IBM, MeitY Join Hands to Boost AI, Quantum and Semiconductors in India
Global tech giant IBM signed three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with entities engaged with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to boost research & development (R&D) and skilling in artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors and quantum technology in India.
As part of the three MoUs, the company intends to build a national AI Innovation Platform (AIIP) under the IndiaAI programme. It will also establish a research centre for the semiconductor R&D ecosystem, and develop local quantum services and infrastructure in India. The announcement is likely to help the government expand local capabilities in critical technologies.
IBM and the government's Digital India Corporation may together establish an AI innovation platform to focus on AI skilling, ecosystem development, and integrating advanced foundation models and generative AI capabilities.
MeitY Inaugurates Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Lab in Gorakhpur
Laying the new technology pathway, the Union ministry of electronics and information technology launched its first Robotic Process Automation (RPA) lab under the Future Skill PRIME Project at the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Gorakhpur.
According to the Union government, the new lab was inaugurated during the 26th All India Director's Meet of NIELIT. The Meet is organised to promote the integration of emerging technology with education.
The new state-of-the-art RPA lab under the ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY), looks to upskill and reskill manpower in RPA domain. This initiative, a first-of-its-kind in Uttar Pradesh also intends to bridge the gap between industry and academia.

India Aims to Set up Bharatiya Antariksha Station by 2035, Send First Indian to Moon by 2040
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a bold vision for India's space exploration efforts, aiming to establish its own space station 'Bharatiya Antariksha Station' by 2035 and send an Indian astronaut to the moon by 2040. This announcement came during a high-level meeting convened to assess the progress of the Gaganyaan Mission, India's ambitious human space mission.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi, who chaired the session, presented a strategic roadmap for India's future in space exploration. The gathering, which included top space agency officials, reviewed the readiness of the Gaganyaan Mission and confirmed that the launch of the country's first human space mission is scheduled for 2025.
To fulfill these ambitious goals, the Department of Space will craft a comprehensive roadmap for moon exploration, which will encompass a series of Chandrayaan missions, the development of a Next Generation Launch Vehicle (NGLV), the construction of a new launch pad, setting up human-centric laboratories, and the development of associated cutting-edge technologies.

NASA Probe Launches to Metal Asteroid Psyche
An American space agency (NASA) probe left Earth to visit one of the most unusual objects in the Solar System.
The craft is heading to a metal world, an asteroid called 16 Psyche, which telescopic observations suggest is made from up to 60% iron and nickel.
Scientists think it may be the remnant core of a planet-like object that had its outer rocky layers stripped off.
The launch of the investigating spacecraft, also named Psyche, took place from Cape Canaveral in Florida.

The second spaceport of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is to be set up in Tamil Nadu.
On October 10, Dr. Pawan Goenka, chairman, Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) said, "We are developing a full launch centre in Thoothukudi district, which will be dedicated for SSLV launches. Right now, about 2,000 acres has been acquired and handed over to ISRO.
The project team is in place, the budget has been defined, the planning has been done, and we will be taking off in about two years from now."
The second spaceport of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), which will be dedicated exclusively for Small Satellite Launch Vehicles (SSLVs) developed by the private sector, will come up in about two years at Kulasekarapattinam in Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu.

State-run NLC India (NLCIL) has secured a 810 megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) project from Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Nigam (RRVUNL) in Bikaner district.
NLCIL has successfully garnered the entire capacity of the 810 MW tender floated by RRVUNL for developing the project of 2,000 MW ultra mega solar park.
The LoI for this project has been issued by RRVUNL representing a significant step forward in NLCIL's commitment to clean and sustainable energy solutions.
