India has Cheapest Manufacturing Cost Globally, Bags 31st Position

India was ranked as the nation with the cheapest manufacturing cost ahead of China and Vietnam, according to a report.
According to the US News and World Report, out of 85 nations, India bagged the 31st position in the overall Best Countries ranking.
India featured at the 37th spot in the 'Open for Business' category.
The report evaluated 85 countries across 73 attributes. Attributes were grouped into 10 sub-categories, including adventure, agility, entrepreneurship, open for business, social purpose and quality of life.
In the overall Best Countries ranking, Switzerland has topped the chart, followed by Germany, Canada, US and Sweden.

Benjamin Netanyahu Makes a Comeback

Israel's caretaker Prime Minster Yair Lapid congratulated his rival Benjamin Netanyahu on his "victory", conceding defeat two days after the country went to the polls. Lapid's concession sets the former premier up to form what may be the most right-wing government in Israeli history.
With up to 99 percent of ballots counted, according to the Central Elections Committee, the results put the veteran hawk's right-wing bloc solidly ahead in the country's fifth election in four years.
Lapid updated opposition leader Netanyahu that he has instructed his entire office to prepare an organised transition of power.
Mr. Netanyahu's right-wing Likud party won 32 seats and his right-wing religious and nationalist bloc in total won 64 in the 120-seat parliament, or Knesset, according to Israel's Central Elections Committee.

Ghana Assumes Presidency of UN Security Council

West African country, Ghana assumed the rotating monthly Presidency of the United Nations Security Council. During the month of November 2022, Ghana shall preside over the meetings of the Council (adoptions, debates and consultations) and, under its authority, shall represent the Security Council in its capacity as an organ of the United Nations.
In its capacity as President of the UN Security Council, Ghana is focusing on enhancing Global Peace and Security for Sustainable and Inclusive Development, particularly on the continent of Africa.
This will be by fully addressing underlying causes and drivers of conflict linked to the growing youth bulge, poverty, climate change and the absence of resilient institutions.
Ghana rejoined the UN Security Council on January 1, 2022. It is the third time Ghana is holding a nonpermanent seat on the Council.
Ghana was first given the opportunity to serve on the council from 1962 to 1963, and was back for the period of January 2006 – December 2007.

For First Time One of North Korea's 23 Ballistic Missiles Lands off South's Coast

North Korea fired at least 23 missiles into the sea in a single day, including one that landed less than 60 km (40 miles) off South Korea's coast, which the South's President Yoon Suk-yeol described as "territorial encroachment".
It was the first time a ballistic missile had landed near the South's waters since the peninsula was divided in 1945, and the most missiles fired by the North in a single day. South Korea issued rare air raid warnings and launched its own missiles in response.
President Yoon Suk-yeol noted North Korea's provocation today was an effective act of territorial encroachment by a missile intruding the Northern Limit Line (NLL), a disputed inter-Korean maritime border, for the first time since (the two Koreas') division.

India Donates $2.5 Million to Support Education, Healthcare of Palestinian Refugees

India presented a cheque of $2.5 million, the second tranche of the pledged $5 million annual support, to a UN agency that will go directly to serve the schools, health centres and other basic services run by the organisation to support Palestinian refugees.
India has given $22.5 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) since 2018. UNRWA is a UN agency that supports the relief and human development of Palestinian refugees.
The financial contribution was presented to Ms. Xuran Wu, Associate Donor Relations and Projects Officer, Department of External Relations, UNRWA at the Representative Office of India in Ramallah, Palestine.
UNRWA is a United Nations agency established by the General Assembly in 1949 and mandated to provide assistance and protection to some 5.6 million Palestine refugees registered with UNRWA across its five fields of operation.

UN, Turkey and Ukraine Agree to Implement Black Sea Grain Deal Despite Russia's Withdrawal from Pact

The United Nations, Turkey and Ukraine agreed to implement a Black Sea grain deal despite Russia's withdrawal from the pact. Russia halted its role in the Black Sea deal for an indefinite term. Moscow said that it could not guarantee the safety of civilian ships travelling under the pact after an attack on its Black Sea fleet.
Black Sea grain Initiative was launched by Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Nations on 22 July 2022 to enable the resumption of exports from Ukraine of grain, other foodstuffs, and fertilizer through a safe maritime humanitarian corridor from Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea to the rest of the world.

Poland Picks U.S Firm to Build First Nuclear Power Plant

Poland chose U.S firm Westinghouse to build its first nuclear power plant. Poland's decision to go with its NATO ally assumed significance amid Russia's war in Ukraine that united the West and pushed it further away from Russian energy. The deal is for the first three reactors of the nuclear power plant in northern Poland, which would start producing electricity in 2033. The U.S energy secretary however, called the project a clear message to Russia and warned it against 'weaponising its energy resources'. Watch this video for more details.
