Assam Launches Sainik Tujhe Salaam for Veterans

Assam launched the Sainik Tujhe Salaam initiative to honour Armed Forces veterans aged above 90, Veer Naris, and Veer Mothers. The programme includes annual home visits by district administrations and district sainik welfare offices. The state observed Armed Forces Flag Day with Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya attending, highlighting the government's commitment to veteran welfare and ongoing support for their families. The scheme complements broader public welfare and veterans' outreach across Assam, aiming to sustain recognition, assist with healthcare access, and ensure dignity for beneficiaries through coordinated administrative visits and services.

Milind Sathe Appointed Maharashtra Advocate General

Senior Advocate Milind Sathe has been appointed Advocate General of Maharashtra by the state government. The appointment follows the resignation of Birendra Saraf in September 2025. As AG, Sathe will represent the state government in high courts and advise on legal matters across government departments. The decision aligns with Maharashtra’s ongoing efforts to ensure robust legal advocacy and strong constitutional governance. The appointment was formalised by the state cabinet and reflects the government’s plan to maintain continuity in legal affairs during a period of administrative transition.

Amit Shah, Gujarat CM Patel Inaugurates Earth Summit 2025-26 in Gandhinagar

The Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in December 2025, inaugurated the 2nd edition of two-day "Earth Summit 2025-26" at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar and also launched more than 13 new services and products under the 'Sahakar Sarathi' initiative. The new offerings include Digi KCC, Campaign Sarathi, Website Sarathi, Cooperative Governance Index, ePACS, the World's Largest Grain Storage Application, Shiksha Sarathi and Sarathi Technology Forum.
The summit is jointly organised by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). On this occasion, the Union Cooperation Minister and the Chief Minister also visited various stalls at the event. Legislative Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary, State Agriculture and Cooperation Minister Jitu Vaghani, and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Jethabhai Ahir graced the event.

Shah Inaugurates Ahmedabad Shopping Festival

Union home minister Amit Shah will preside over several events in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar on Friday, including the inauguration of the Ahmedabad Shopping Festival (ASF) 2025–26 near Monte Carlo Oxygen Park on Sindhu Bhavan Road.

Karnataka Introduces e-Swathu 2.0 for Rural Property Digitalisation

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has launched the upgraded e-Swathu 2.0, a digital platform aimed at regularising rural properties in Karnataka. The system is expected to generate up to Rs 2,000 crore in revenue by bringing 95 lakh properties in gram panchayats under the tax net.

Lok Sabha Passes Health & National Security Cess Bill

The Lok Sabha has passed the Health Security se National Security Cess Bill, 2025. The bill is aimed to augment funding for health and national security with the imposition of cess on production of goods such as pan masala and any other goods that may be notified by the central government. Proceeds from the cess will be used for expenditure towards public health and national security.
Replying to a debate on the Bill, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, the government wants to deter the use of demerit goods. She said collected cess will be spent on public health and also on strengthening defence ecosystems. She said, public health is a state subject, while defence is the responsibility of the Centre. She stressed on the need to raise more resources to modernize the defence forces to deal with the evolving challenges.

Tamil Nadu Adds Five New Products to Its GI Portfolio, Taking Total to 74

Five distinctive products from Tamil Nadu have been awarded the Geographical Indications (GI) tag, showcasing the State's rich heritage in traditional crafts, agricultural varieties, and artisanal skills. The newly recognised products include:
- Woraiyur cotton sari
- Kavindapadi nattu sakkarai (traditional jaggery powder)
- Namakkal soapstone cookware (makkal pathirangal)
- Thooyamalli rice (a traditional rice variety)
- Ambasamudram choppu saman (wooden toys)
With this recognition, Tamil Nadu now possesses 74 GI-tagged products, strengthening its position as a leading contributor to India's cultural and craft diversity.

India Launches GIRG to Strengthen Its Global Rankings and Performance

The Indian government has announced a major initiative to compare the country's performance with 26 global indices. This effort aims to identify areas where India can improve and strengthen its position in international rankings. The announcement was made by Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation, Rao Inderjit Singh, in Parliament on Monday.
This initiative is part of the Global Indices for Reforms and Growth (GIRG) platform. GIRG is designed to use international comparisons to guide policy changes, improve governance, and enhance India's statistical and data-reporting systems.

ONGC Chairman Arun Kumar Singh Granted One-Year Extension

New Delhi, 4 December 2025: Arun Kumar Singh, aged 63, was granted a rare one-year extension as chairman of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). He will hold the post until 6 December 2026, according to an order from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Singh became the first near-60 executive to head a blue‑chip PSU in 2022, and the extension signals government preference for continuity as ONGC advances in production and exploration. The decision follows a cabinet review and underscores the importance of stable leadership in strategic energy assets.

Vivek Chaturvedi is Appointed as New CBIC Chairman

The Government of India has appointed Vivek Chaturvedi, a 1990-batch Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officer, as the new Chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). His selection was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, as mentioned in an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT).
Vivek Chaturvedi is a senior IRS officer with more than 30 years of experience in the field of indirect taxes. Over the years, he has worked in several key positions, contributing to tax administration, compliance, and policy matters. His long career in the revenue services has earned him a reputation for leadership and integrity.

DoLR to Organise National Symposium on Naksha and LandStack to Enhance Urban Digital Land Reforms

The Department of Land Resources (DoLR), Ministry of Rural Development, hosted a National Symposium on NAKSHA and LandStack in December 2025 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Held as part of GeoSmart India 2025, the event aimed to accelerate the use of modern geospatial technology to improve urban land records and strengthen citizen services across the country. The symposium brought together government officials, technical experts, and industry leaders for in-depth discussions on creating a transparent and future-ready digital land system for India.
