Sweden's Mondo Duplantis broke his own pole vault world record with a clearance of 6.29 metres at the Hungarian Grand Prix meeting in Budapest, the 13th time he has set a new world mark as he continues to defy gravity.
The double-Olympic champion maintained his tradition of improving on his previous record by one centimetre.

The 4th edition of Freedom Fighter Jhagaru Gour Memorial Football Tournament was inaugurated at Sonabeel Tea Estate, Sonitpur district, Assam.

The U19 boxers secured a total of 14 medals, including three gold, seven silver and four bronze medals. They had the best medal count, but finished second behind Uzbekistan due to the latter having seven gold medals.
The U22 batch got one gold, four silver, and eight bronze medals.

Global Chess League to be Hosted by India This Year
After two seasons abroad, this edition of the Global Chess League (GCL) will be hosted by India this year (2025), the league announced along with dates for the league. The organisers said that the GCL will be held from December 13 to 24 this year. The dates mean that the league will end very close to the start of the traditional year-ending FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Championship, which is usually held over the Christmas and New Year window.
The first edition of the Global Chess League was hosted in Dubai while last year, the event was held in London.
