Indian Long jumper Murali Sreeshankar won gold while compatriot Jeswin Aldrin bagged silver at the International Jumping Meeting at Kallithea in Greece. Successfully defending his title in the Men's long jump event, Commonwealth Games silver medallist Sreeshankar registered his season-best jump of 8.18 m. He beat his compatriot and national record holder Jeswin Aldrin, who claimed silver with an effort of 7.85 m at the World Athletics Continental Tour bronze level event.

P. V. Sindhu, Prannoy Enter Quarter-finals of Malaysia Masters
Star Indian shuttler PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy booked their places in the quarterfinals of the Malaysia Masters with contrasting wins over their respective rivals .
While double Olympic medallist and sixth seed Sindhu disposed of Aya Ohori of Japan in straight games in women's singles, Prannoy had to dig deep to get the better of Shi Feng Li of China in a tough three-game men's singles contest.
Jayaprakash Re-elected as President of Swimming Federation of India
N. Jayaprakash and Monal D. Chokshi were re-elected president and secretary of the Swimming Federation of India (SFI) at its annual general body meeting.
The target activities of SFI for the next four years will be to develop grassroots' participation by holding camps and coaches' clinics at the State-level. Jayaprakash was elected unanimously as the president of SFI in an Annual General Body Meeting and Election held in Chennai. The event was held with the aim to facilitate the election of new office-bearers who will steer the future of swimming in India.
The Federation has identified key focus areas for its Mission 2028, aimed at furthering the development of swimming in the country. These focus areas include the establishment of a National Database of Swimmers, Coaches, and Academies, the implementation of an Indigenous Coaches Education & Certification pathway, the creation of a systematic Talent Scouting Structure and Protocols, the review of the Competition Structure, and the development of a National Talent Pool & Athlete Development Pathway.
ICC announces Prize Money for India vs Australia WTC Final Winner and Runners-up
ICC announced the prize money for the winners and runner-ups of the World Test Championship final between India and Australia slated to be played at The Oval, England from June 7 to 11 with June 12 being the reserve day. ICC said the Australia-India WTC final will have a major incentive for both teams as other than the crowning glory in the longest format of the game, the winners will also collect $1.6 million as the winners' prize money. The losing finalists will pocket $800,000.
The tournament prize money is the same as that for the inaugural edition of the championship – ICC World Test Championship 2019-21 – a total purse of $3.8 million.
All nine ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 participants will get a share in the $3.8 million purse. South Africa earned $450,000 by finishing third in the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 standings.

Namdev Shirgaonkar New President of India Taekwondo
Namdev Shirgaonkar was elected unopposed as the President of the executive committee of India Taekwondo. The election was attended by 25 affiliated state associations.
The entire election process went off without a hitch, with all the office-bearers being elected unopposed. All due election norms were firmly in place, with Bhagwatrao Gaikwad (Retired judge) functioning as the Returning Officer in tandem with Sharad D. Madakre (Retired Deputy Charity Commissioner).
Kiarash Bahri (Coordinator – World Taekwondo – WT) as well as (Observer – Asian Taekwondo Union – ATU) and Wanyong LEE (2nd Observer – Asian Taekwondo Union – ATU) and Prashant Desai (Observer – Paralympic Committee of India – PCI) were the individuals who conducted the Election process.
Indian shuttler Sameer Verma emerged victorious in men's singles competition at the 2023 Slovenia Open beating Su Li Yang, while the duo of Rohan Kapoor and Sikki Reddy bagged silver in the mixed doubles event in Maribor, Slovenia.
Verma won 21-18 21-14 against his Taiwanese opponent.
Kapoor and Reddy beat Denmark's Mads Vestergaard and Christine Busch 21-15 21-19 in the semifinals but lost to Jesper Toft and Clara Gravesen, also from Denmark, 12-21 13-21 in the summit showdown.
Akash Madhwal Creates all-time IPL Records, goes Past Jasprit Bumrah and Anil Kumble
Mumbai Indians thrashed Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator of IPL 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Akash Madhwal was the hero for the five-time champions returning with the magical figures of 5/5 to skittle LSG for just 101 runs in the 17th over of the innings.
Madhwal, the fast bowler has grown in stature with every match and became the first ever bowler to pick up a five-wicket haul in the IPL playoffs. He also equalled former India captain Anil Kumble's bowling record in IPL 2009. Madhwal's figures are now joint-best for an Indian bowler in the history of IPL, while overall, his 5/5 are the fourth-best figures in the history of cash-rich league.

Ganemat Sekhon, Darshna Rathore Bag Silver & Bronze
Indian shooters Ganemat Sekhon and Darshna Rathore struck a silver and a bronze, respectively, medal in the women's individual skeet event at the ISSF World Cup Shotgun Almaty 2023. It was for the first time that India won two individual medals in women's skeet at the senior ISSF World Cup.
Ganemat Sekhon was on track to win a gold medal but settled for silver with 50/60 points after missing five of her last 10 shots. Tokyo Olympian Assem Orynbay, an Asian championships silver medallist from Kazakhstan, also shot 50/60 but went on to bag the gold medal after winning the shoot-off 2-1.
Darshna Rathore, meanwhile, won her maiden ISSF World Cup medal, a bronze. She shot 39/50 and could not progress to the gold medal round.
Chennai to Host Squash World Cup in June
The Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT)-World Squash Federation (WSF) Squash World Cup will be held at the Express Avenue Mall and the Indian Squash and Triathlon Academy (ISTA).
The last edition of the World Cup was also held in Chennai in 2011.
This event is to be sponsored by the Tamil Nadu Government will bring together top squash players from around the world to compete for the coveted trophy.
The Squash World Cup, now in its fourth edition, has undergone significant changes since its last staging in 2011. This event will inspire a new generation of squash enthusiasts and contribute to the sport's development in India.
Eight countries will vie for the 2023 Squash World Cup trophy. Hosts India will be joined by Hong Kong, China, Japan, Malaysia, Egypt, South Africa, Australia and Colombia.

Virat Kohli Breaks Gayle's Record for most IPL Hundreds with Consecutive Tons
Virat Kohli surpassed Chris Gayle's record for most IPL hundreds with his 7th century for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Gujarat Titans at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Kohli reached the century mark off 60 balls with 13 fours and one six. Kohli also became the third batter to record consecutive IPL centuries after Jos Buttler and Shikhar Dhawan.
Neeraj Chopra is No. 1 Javelin Thrower of World
Tokyo Olympics champion Neeraj Chopra became the world No. 1 for the first time in his career in the latest men's javelin throw rankings issued by the World Athletics.
Chopra topped the charts with 1455 points, 22 points ahead of Grenada's reigning world champion Anderson Peters (1433). Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Jakub Vadlejch of Czech Republic was third with 1416 points. Chopra rose to world No. 2 in August 2022 but was stuck behind Peters since then.
Earlier this month (May 2023), he had won the season-opening Doha Diamond League with a throw of 88.67 metres for a major boost to his ranking. In September last year, Chopra had won the Diamond League finals in Zurich and became the first Indian to win the trophy.
BCCI Announces Adidas as New Kit Sponsor
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) signed Adidas as the new kit sponsor of the Indian team.
Adidas will replace Kewal Kiran Clothing Ltd, maker of Killer Jeans, whose contract expires on May 31, which came in as interim sponsor after the then-sponsor Mobile Premier League Sports (MPL Sports) pulled out of the deal midway.
