Sweden's Armand Duplantis Sets Pole Vault World Record at Prefontaine Classic

Sweden's Armand Duplantis didn't exactly remember soaring over the bar to set a new world record at the Prefontaine Classic.
Duplantis and Ethiopia distance runner Gudaf Tsegay both set new world records to wrap up the season at the Prefontaine Classic track and field meet.
Known as Mondo, Duplantis leaped 6.23 meters (20 feet, 5 1/4 inches). The reigning world champion broke his own record of 6.22 meters (20 feet, 4 3/4 inches) set indoors earlier this year.

Ferrari's Carlos Sainz Wins Singapore Grand Prix 2023

Ferrari's Carlos Sainz won the Singapore Grand Prix to end Formula 1 leader Max Verstappen's record run of 10 wins in a row and shatter Red Bull's dream of going through the season unbeaten. McLaren's Lando Norris finished a close second and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton took third place as Red Bull ended up off the podium for the first time since the November 2022 Brazilian Grand Prix.

Neeraj Chopra Fails to Defend his Diamond League Title, Finishes Second

Neeraj Chopra, an Olympic and world champion javelin thrower, finished in second place with a below-par throw of 83.80 m, failing to defend his Diamond League championship successfully. Jakub Vadlejch of Czech Republic became the Diamond League champion for the third time with a best throw of 84.24 m in his sixth and final attempt. He led the six-man field from the beginning following his first-round effort of 84.01 m.
Finland's Oliver Helander came third with an 83.74 m throw, followed by Moldova's Andrian Mardare with a throw of 81.79 m and USA's Curtis Thompson with a throw of 77.01 m.

India Wins Asia Cup 2023

Asia Cup 2023, which was played in the ODI format, concluded with India clinching record 8th time as they defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the final of the continental tournament. To felicitate the finalists, the Asian Cricket Council announced the prize money for Asia Cup 2023 winners and runners-up. The total purse pool for the prize money in Asia Cup 2023 was $4 million among the teams.
The tournament champions got $200,000 as prize money. The losing team in the final of Asia Cup 2023 got the prize money of $100,000.
And it is not just the finalists but other three teams will also take some money as prize.
Though India and Sri Lanka were the finalists, Pakistan ended at third spot followed by Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Sri Lanka announced $50,000 prize money for the dedicated curators and groundsmen at Colombo and Kandy.
Kuldeep Yadav was awarded the player of the series.
The Asia Cup, officially known as the ACC Men's Asia Cup is a men's international cricket tournament contested between Asian countries in either One Day International format (50 overs) and Twenty20 International cricket format (20 overs). It was established in 1983 when the Asian Cricket Council was founded as a measure to promote goodwill between Asian countries. It was originally scheduled to be held every two years. The Asia Cup is the only continental championship in cricket and the winning team becomes the champion of Asia. It alternates every 2-years between ODI and T20 formats.
The first Asia Cup was held in 1984 in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates where the council's offices were based (until 1995).

MotoGP Bharat Ropes in IndianOil as Title Sponsor for the Event

MotoGP Bharat roped in IndianOil as the title sponsor for the event scheduled to take place at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida from September 22 to 24, its promoter Fairstreet Sports announced.
The event will see participation from 42 teams and 84 riders.

Indian Challenge Ends in Hong Kong Open

India's challenge at the Hong Kong Open Super 500 tournament ended after two women's doubles pairs lost in the pre-quarterfinals. Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand were no match for seventh seeds Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ranadhanti of Indonesia, losing 8-21 14-21 in just 36 minutes. Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa lost 18-21 7-21 to top seeds Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahar of Japan in just 38 minutes.

Sunil Chhetri Only Notable Face in 18-member Indian Football Squad for Asian Games

Veteran striker Sunil Chhetri was the only notable face in the 18-member Indian squad for the Hangzhou Asian Games as All India Football Federation (AIFF) finally managed to stich a second-rung team, but there is still a big question mark on head coach Igor Stimac accompanying the team.
The Indian team is scheduled to begin its Asian Games campaign with a match against China on September 19, followed by games against Bangladesh (September 21) and Myanmar (September 24).

Kiran George Clinches Indonesian Masters title 2023 in Badminton

Indian badminton player Kiran George secured a remarkable victory at the Indonesia Masters 2023, held in Medan, North Sumatra. Competing at the GOR PBSI Pancing Court, Kiran George, currently ranked 50th in the badminton rankings, displayed exceptional prowess as he defeated world No. 82 Koo Takahashi of Japan with a score of 21-19, 22-20. This triumph marked Kiran George's second BWF World Tour Super 100 badminton title, following his victory at the Odisha Open the previous year (2022), where he defeated compatriot Priyanshu Rawat in the final.

Maharashtra Wins 5th National Wheelchair Rugby Championship

Maharashtra won the 5th National Wheelchair Rugby Championship 2023 by securing a convincing victory over Karnataka, concluding with a final score of 31-10. This championship, which took place at Balewadi in Pune from September 10 to September 11, 2023, was marked by intense competition and served as a testament to the impressive development of wheelchair rugby in India.
The 5th National Wheelchair Rugby Championship 2023 was organized by The Indian Rugby Football Union (Rugby India), the governing body for rugby in India. It was conducted in association with the Wheelchair Rugby Federation of India and Mitsubishi Corporation. This collaborative effort aimed to promote and expand the sport of wheelchair rugby across the nation.
The 5th National Wheelchair Rugby Championship 2023 marked a significant milestone for wheelchair rugby in India. With participants from 14 states, it became the largest national wheelchair event ever hosted by Rugby India. The states that took part in this prestigious competition were Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, and the host state, Maharashtra.
