Suryakumar Yadav to Lead India in Five-match T20I Series against Australia

Suryakumar Yadav was named as India captain for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia, which begins from November 23 to December 3, 2023.
Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad was named as vice-captain for the series against the newly-crowned ODI champions, as the hosts only picked three players from the World Cup squad – Prasidh Krishna, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar himself.

Australia Wins the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Australia lifted the world cup trophy by defeating India with a convincing 6-wicket margin. Australia reached the target in 42.5 overs with six wickets in hand.
With this win Australia has won the World Cup title 6 times viz. 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015 and 2023.
Australia's Travis Head was declared the Player of the Match in his side's 2023 ODI World Cup final win against India in Ahmedabad. The Australian opener was the top-scorer for his side in a 241-run chase, with a 120-ball 137.

Virat Kohli Adjudged Player of the Tournament

Virat Kohli was adjudged player of the tournament after Australia beat India in the ICC ODI World Cup final played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Kohli scored 765 runs in 11 innings including three centuries and six fifties. He averaged 95.62 and scored runs at a strike rate of 90.31.

Novak Djokovic Claims Seventh ATP Finals Crown

Novak Djokovic claimed yet another record with his seventh ATP Finals title, sweeping aside local hero Jannik Sinner 6-3, 6-3 in Turin, Italy and leaving tennis fans wondering when he will relinquish his tennis dominance. Djokovic came into the final at the end of an age-defying year which has brought three Grand Slams, taking his total to an all-time best of 24, and a 40th Masters 1000 title.

Petroleum Minister Inaugurates 3rd Hockey India Women's Championship

Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Housing and Urban Affairs, inaugurated the 3rd Hockey India Senior Women Inter Department National Championship 2023 at Shivaji Stadium.
The championship promises a thrilling display of top-tier talent, featuring eight of the best women's teams from across the nation. With more than 12 players boasting international experience, the tournament guarantees a high level of skill and competition.
The participating teams include All Indian Police Sports Control Board, Railway Sports Promotion Board, UCO Bank, Sports Authority of India, Union Bank of India, Sashastra Seema Bal, Tamil Nadu Police, and the host Indian Oil Corporation-Women.

Amazon Prime Video Launches its First Dedicated Sports Channel - FanCode

Amazon's Prime Video extended its sports offerings by introducing FanCode, a premier sports destination on its channels and rival streaming platforms. The offering came as part of a partnership with Amazon Prime Video and Dream Sport-owned FanCode. FanCode boasts to be the first dedicated sports streaming service on Prime Video Channels, providing access to a diverse range of sports globally and domestically.
FanCode on Prime Video Channels will offer live streaming of over 15 sports.

AIFF-FIFA Academy to be Launched in Bhubaneswar

The long-awaited aspiration of the All India Football Federation to set up a world-class academy will finally become a reality in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on November 21, 2023. The AIFF-FIFA academy, to be launched under the FIFA Talent Development Scheme, will be inaugurated by Arsene Wenger, the Chief of Global Football Development, FIFA.
The FIFA TDS is a programme aimed at collaborating with different Member Associations across the world to increase the competitiveness of their national teams. The FIFA has also rolled out its Talent Coaching Programme, with which it intends to provide active on-ground support to the Member Associations.

PCB Appoints Shaheen Afridi as T20I Skipper

Pakistan Cricket Board named Shaheen Shah Afridi as the new white-ball captain, while Shan Masood will lead the men in green in Test matches. The appointment by the PCB came after Babar Azam stepped down as Pakistan captain in all three formats.
Masood has played 30 Tests for Pakistan, scoring 1597 runs at an average of 28.52 with a highest score of 156. Afridi, meanwhile, has taken 104 and 64 wickets respectively in the 53 ODIs and 52 T20s he has played to date.

India into the Final of World Cup 2023

The Indian team won by 70 runs in the match against New Zealand. This was India's tenth successive win and progressed to the final of the 2023 World Cup. India finished on 397-4 (50 Overs) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Mohammed Shami took seven wickets as New Zealand was all out for 327 runs. He became the first bowler to take a seven-wicket haul in an ODI World Cup knockout game He also became the first bowler to pick three five-wicket hauls in one World Cup edition. India beat New Zealand for 1st time in ODI World Cup knockouts. New Zealand, who beat India at the same stage in the 2019 tournament, were bundled out for 327 in the 49th over with Daryl Mitchell's excellent innings of 134 proving to be in vain.

Virat Kohli Breaks Sachin Tendulkar's Record for Most Centuries in an ODI

In a historic moment at the ongoing ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, Virat Kohli, the former Indian cricket captain, achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the first batter in the world to score 50 One Day International (ODI) centuries. In doing so, he surpassed the iconic Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 centuries, solidifying his place as the leading century-scorer in ODI cricket.
The former Indian cricket team captain slammed his 50th ODI ton against New Zealand during the Cricket World Cup 2023 semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
That was not all as Kohli also claimed another World Cup record that previously belonged to Tendulkar. He also became the batter with most runs in a single edition of the Cricket World Cup. 674 - Virat Kohli (2023), 673 - Sachin Tendulkar (2003).

India Finishes Asian Archery Championships in Bangkok with Seven Medals

India ended campaign at Asian Archery Championships in Bangkok with seven medals comprising three gold, a silver and three bronze. On the final day, India won five medals in compound event, including three gold. In the Women's team final, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur, and Aditi Gopichand Swami defeated Chinese Taipei in a thrilling contest to win the yellow metal. Kaur also won gold in the women's individual event after beating compatriot Vennam in the final. India won their second gold medal of the day after Swami and Priyansh beat Thailand in the final of the Mixed Team event.
Asian Archery Championships is the archery championship organised by the World Archery Asia.
It has been held biannually, and since 2001 has included both the recurve and compound disciplines. The tournament began in 1980 and it was first hosted in India. Countries such as South Korea, China, Japan, and India compete, with many of the world's leading archers representing them.

ICC Suspends Sri Lanka Cricket's Membership Over Government Interference

The International Cricket Council (ICC) took a significant step by suspending Sri Lanka Cricket's membership, citing serious breaches of its autonomy and government interference. The move came in the wake of the Sri Lankan government's decision to sack the cricket board due to the national team's disappointing performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
The suspension follows a tumultuous World Cup campaign by the Sri Lankan cricket team, currently ranked ninth in the 10-team standings after a disappointing performance of winnings only two out of nine matches. The struggles were further exacerbated by conflicts within the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) management.

Morkel Resigns as Pakistan's Bowling Coach

Former South African pacer Morne Morkel resigned as the Pakistan cricket team's bowling coach two days after the team's elimination from the ODI World Cup.
The Babar Azam-led Pakistan lost five of the nine matches in the showpiece, their last defeat came against England by 93 runs in Kolkata. Morkel had joined the team on a six-month contract in June this year (2023).

Diana Edulji, a trailblazer for Indian women's cricket, became the first Indian woman cricketer to be inducted in the ICC Hall of Fame.
Aravinda de Silva, a key figure in Sri Lanka's 1996 World Cup triumph, has rightfully earned his place in the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.

Novak Djokovic Gets His Trophy after Securing Year-end No. 1 Ranking for Record-extending 8th Time

Novak Djokovic received his trophy after securing the year-end No. 1 ranking for a record-extending eighth time.
Djokovic needed only a match win at the ATP Finals to be sure of keeping the top spot and the 24-time Grand Slam champion secured it in his opener, beating Holger Rune 7-6 (4), 6-7 (1), 6-3.
ATP president Andrea Gaudenzi presented Djokovic with the trophy for his achievement.
Djokovic had already moved ahead of previous record holder Pete Sampras (six years at No. 1) two years ago.
Carlos Alcaraz took the honour last year. But, Djokovic bounced back this year by winning three of the four major titles and finishing runner-up to Alcaraz at Wimbledon.
