Nandini Dairy will sponsor Scotland for T20 World Cup 2024

The management of the Scotland cricket team unveiled its jersey with a logo of Karnataka's home-grown Nandini dairy for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) that runs the Nandini brand is the official sponsor of the Scotland team, and this is the first time the milk brand has gone international.
The brand name and logo that was written in Kannada was seen on the sleeves of players' T shirts that were launched.

Brazil to Host 2027 Women's World Cup Soccer

Brazil will host the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, announced the sport's global governing body FIFA at the 74th FIFA Congress in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup will be held in Brazil. This is a big deal in the world of international women's football. Brazil will be hosting this prestigious event for the first time. It will be a chance to show off its rich culture and love of football. The news comes as FIFA focuses more on making women's football more popular and easier for people around the world to play. Cristiano Ronaldo Tops Forbes' List of Highest-paid Athletes

For the fourth time in his career, Cristiano Ronaldo topped the Forbes list of highest paid-athletes while Spanish golfer Jon Rahm moved to the second spot. Ronaldo's arch-rival Lionel Messi is at the third position in the list, whereas France superstar Kylian Mbappe dropped down to the sixth spot.
Ronaldo became the world's highest-paid athlete after his switch from Manchester United to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr in late 2022.
Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James -- who is nearing retirement -- came at the fourth spot at $128.2 million. Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo ($111 million) followed James at the fifth spot whereas France football captain Mbappe is sixth ($110 million) on the list.

T20 World Cup to Stream and Broadcast with Sign Language, Audio Description

In a first for Indian sports streaming, the ICC Men's T20 cricket World Cup will be streamed with Hindi audio description and Indian Sign Language (ISL) for visually and hearing impaired viewers, Disney+ Hotstar, the streaming service with the rights to stream the tournament this year (2024) announced.

Football Legend Sunil Chhetri Announces Retirement

Sunil Chhetri, the legendary player from Indian football who began playing for his country in 2005, announced his retirement from international football.
He will play his final game for India on June 6, at Kolkata, during the FIFA World Cup qualifier for 2026, against Kuwait. Chhetri who has the most appearances and goals for the Indian national team, is regarded as one of the best football players in the country.
Chhetri is third among active players globally in terms of goals scored for his country, only behind Messi and the Cristiano Ronaldo.
Chhetri is the first Indian player to rank among the top 10 goal scorers in history.

Boxer Abhishek Yadav Storms into Semi-finals of Elorda Cup

India's Abhishek Yadav produced a dominating performance and entered the semi-finals of the Elorda Cup 2024, in Astana, Kazakhstan, beating Kazakhstan's Rakhat Seitzhan. Meanwhile, Pawan Bartwal (54kg), Kavinder Singh Bisht (57kg), Varinder Singh (60kg) and Hitesh (71kg) suffered losses in their respective quarter-finals.

Federation Cup 2024: Neeraj Chopra Wins Javelin Gold with 82.27 m Throw

India's star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal in Federation Cup 2024, held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, with a throw of 82.27 m. This was Chopra's first event in India since winning the historic gold medal at 2022 Tokyo Olympics. He last participated in the Federation Cup in 2021 and had won the gold with 87.80-m throw.

Tamil Nadu's Shyaamnikhil Becomes India's 85th Chess Grandmaster

P. Shyaamnikhil from Tamil Nadu etched his name in the annals of Indian chess history by becoming the country's 85th Grandmaster (GM). Shyaamnikhil chess prodigy, who embarked on his journey at the tender age of eight, finally secured the coveted third and final GM norm at the prestigious 2024 Dubai Police Masters Chess Tournament.
Born in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, in 1992, Shyaamnikhil's chess journey began when he relocated to Chennai to pursue his passion. His talent was evident from an early age, as he earned the International Master (IM) title in 2011 and secured his first GM norm at the Mumbai Mayor's Cup the same year. The second GM norm followed at the Indian Championship, setting the stage for his ultimate achievement.

Adarsh, Manu Top Qualifications in Fourth 25m Olympic Selection Trial

Manu Bhaker and Adarsh Singh emerged winners in the qualification rounds of the women's 25m pistol and men's 25m rapid-fire pistol respectively in the Olympic Selection Trial. All five shooters in both men's and women's categories will now clash in the final at the M.P. State Shooting Academy ranges. Anish Bhanwala took a healthy four-point lead from the first precision stage into the second rapid-fire stage, only to be pipped by Adarsh on countback, after both posted scores of 583 with the same number of 24-hits in the inner 10-ring. Ankur Goel too shot the same score but had 10 fewer hits in the inner ring, while Vijayveer Sidhu clinched fourth with 581, scoring just one inner-10 more than Bhavesh Shekhawat.

Paddler Manika Batra Reaches Career-high Ranking of World No. 24

Ace women's table tennis star Manika Batra rose to a career-best singles ranking of 24 following her success in the Saudi Smash, becoming the first Indian woman player to break into the top-25 in world rankings.
Manika Khel Ratna awardee, who was in the 39th spot before the tournament, jumped 15 spots following her run in Jeddah, where she reached the quarter-finals.
It was also the first time an Indian woman player advanced that deep in the tournament.
