India, Norway Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthen Health Collaboration Under NIPI
Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava, in November 2025, chaired the annual meeting of the Norway India Partnership Initiative, NIPI in New Delhi along with Norway's ambassador to India, May-Elin Stener. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Srivastava stated that NIPI displays how convergence of efforts can yield results. She said that the government is also involved in convergence with states and Union Territories, through a whole-of-government approach for achieving desired outcomes.
During the meeting, the Health Secretary underlined India's commitment to share the best practices under the initiative for replication in other settings. Meanwhile, Stener highlighted that the Indian government has invested 26 times the amount Norway spent under this initiative which highlights the importance being given to this collaboration. She noted that there have been significant developments in the health sector in India since this partnership started in 2006.
