Cricket Ireland Confirms Departure of Warren Deutrom

Cricket Ireland announced the departure of Chief Executive Officer, Warren Deutrom, from his position. He will step down from his role at the end of August after almost 19 years at the helm of Irish cricket's national governing body.
During his tenure, Ireland has grown in stature in world cricket and in 2017 was awarded Full Member/Test status of the International Cricket Council - only 12 out of 108 cricket-playing nations hold this elite status.
Warren has been in cricket administration for almost 30 years, including stints as head of events for both the International Cricket Council (ICC) and for the England and Wales Cricket Board.

AICF Launches Monthly Stipend Scheme to Boost Young Chess Talent

The All India Chess Federation (AICF) launched the Top National Players Stipend Scheme (TNPSS). This scheme aims to provide direct financial assistance to promising young chess players across India, covering categories from Under-7 to Under-19. By offering quarterly stipends ranging from Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 1.5 lakh, the initiative is designed to not only identify talent early but also help them develop into future champions. The move reflects AICF's strategic intent to strengthen the national chess ecosystem.
This is the first time in Indian chess history that players are receiving structured financial support at such a young age, aimed at encouraging participation in national-level tournaments and providing the foundation for long-term success.

Indian Women Wrestlers Clinch Champion Trophy at Under-17 Asian Wrestling Championships

The Indian women wrestling team emerged as the champion Team at the Under-17 Asian Wrestling Championships held in Vung Tau, Vietnam, as per the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) release.
Following the triumphant victory of the Under-23 Women Wrestling Team in Vietnam, the Under-17 Women Wrestlers showcased exceptional grit, determination, and skill to carry forward India's winning momentum.
The Indian women team dominated across weight categories, winning a total of 10 medals - 5 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze, thus securing the Champion Trophy with 215 points. China stood second with 151 points, while Japan secured third position with 149 points.

India Concludes Para Powerlifting World Cup Campaign with 5 Medals

India's Jhandu Kumar delivered an exceptional performance and secured the bronze medal in the men's 80kg weight category at the World Para Powerlifting World Cup in Beijing, China.
With this, India concluded its campaign with a total of five medals, marking one of its strongest performances in recent editions of the World Cup. Beyond the medal tally, several Indian athletes also delivered commendable efforts, achieving notable international rankings and further strengthening India's presence in the global para powerlifting circuit.
China topped the medal tally at the World Para Powerlifting World Cup in Beijing in 2025, securing a total of 38 medals.

Neeraj Chopra Clinches Ostrava Golden Spike 2025 Title

Two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra clinched gold on his debut at the Ostrava Golden Spike, held in Czech Republic, a prestigious World Athletics Continental Tour Category A event.
While Neeraj fell short of his personal best of 90.23m, he comfortably dominated the nine-man field, which was notably missing one of his fiercest rivals and 2025 nemesis, Julian Weber.
