The Khelo India University Games 2025

  • The fifth edition of the Khelo India University Games 2025 is being held in seven Rajasthan cities – Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Kota and Bharatpur –from November 24 to December 5, 2025.
  • Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya lit the ceremonial lamp marking the beginning of the event.
  • Around 7,000 participants, including nearly 5,000 athletes from 230 universities across the country, are taking part in the Games.
  • Athletes are competing in 23 sporting disciplines at the Khelo India University Games, while the traditional sport Kho-Kho will be showcased as a demonstration event.

Curacao Makes Soccer History as Smallest Nation by Population to Qualify for a World Cup

  • The tiny Caribbean island country Curacao will go to the 2026 World Cup as the smallest nation by population ever to qualify for the marquee event in men's soccer.
  • Curacao, an autonomous territory of about 156,000 people within the Netherlands kingdom, took the record of Iceland, with a population of just over 350,000, which was the previous smallest country to reach the World Cup when it qualified for Russia 2018.

Zimbabwe and Namibia Will Jointly Host the 2026 U-19 Cricket World Cup

  • The 16th edition of the Men's Under-19 Cricket World Cup will be played across five venues in Zimbabwe and Namibia from January 15 to February 6, 2026.
  • As per the format, the 16 cricket teams have been divided into four groups of four. Following the round-robin group stage, the top three teams from each group will progress to the Super Six phase, where they will be split into two groups of six each.
  • The groups:
  • Group A: India, Bangladesh, USA, New Zealand
  • Group B: Zimbabwe, Pakistan, England, Scotland
