Ispace's RESILIENCE Lunar Lander Crashes

A Japanese private spacecraft, owned by Tokyo-based ispace, crashed in a failed lunar landing attempt in the Mare Frigoris area, the second moonshot failure for the company. The RESILIENCE lunar lander lost contact while descending, prompting ispace to call off the mission as a failure.

Private Japanese Spacecraft, to Attempt Daring Moon Landing

Months after it launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon-9 rocket, Japan's ispace Resilience lander is ready to attempt a daring Moon landing.
Japan's ispace's RESILIENCE lander is scheduled to attempt a touchdown on the Moon on June 5, 2025, near the center of Mare Frigoris, also known as the Sea of Cold.
Launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on January 15, 2025, RESILIENCE was successfully deployed and began its months-long voyage using a low-energy transfer orbit—a fuel-efficient trajectory that included a lunar flyby and a series of complex deep-space maneuvers.

China Launches Tianwen-2 to Collect Asteroid Samples

China launched its Tianwen-2 mission, dispatching a spacecraft to gather samples from an asteroid near to Mars. The China National Space Administration (CNSA) anticipates that this mission will yield groundbreaking discoveries and expand humanity's knowledge of the cosmos.
The Tianwen-2 probe will collect samples from the asteroid 2016HO3. Additionally, it will explore the main-belt comet 311P, situated beyond Mars.

IndiaAI Mission Gets Boost as Compute Capacity Tops 34,000 GPUs

Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday announced a major expansion in the country's national AI infrastructure and talent development ecosystem.
Speaking at the 'IndiaAI – Make AI in India, Make AI Work for India' event in New Delhi, the Minister said India's national compute capacity has now crossed 34,000 GPUs, bolstered by the addition of 15,916 new units to the existing 18,417.
The announcement was accompanied by the selection of three more startups to develop indigenous foundation models under the IndiaAI Mission, following a rigorous multi-stage expert evaluation process.

IIT Kharagpur & Singapore's IME Sign MoU to Boost Semiconductor Innovation

In a landmark development that marks a significant stride toward global collaboration in semiconductor technology, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur and Singapore's Institute of Microelectronics (IME), a core research entity under the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), have formalized their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
This important collaboration was officially announced at the prestigious SEMICON Southeast Asia 2025, a key industry event drawing top experts and innovators from the semiconductor sector.
This collaboration focuses on advanced technologies like post-CMOS, AI hardware, quantum devices, and aims to strengthen India-Singapore ties in the global semiconductor ecosystem.
