Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya Launches Issuance of Sports Certificates via DigiLocker

Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya launched the issuance of sports certificates via DigiLocker at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi.
Mandaviya reaffirmed the Government's commitment to athlete welfare, stating that all sports initiatives undertaken by Modi Government are athlete-centric.
He announced that sports certificates issued via DigiLocker will soon be integrated with the National Sports Repository System (NSRS), enabling automatic disbursal of Government cash rewards directly into athletes' bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), eliminating the need for paper applications.

Animesh Sets New Men's 200m National Record

Animesh Kujur from Odisha broke the three-year-old 200m National record, clocking an impressive 20.40s, at the Federation Cup at Kochi's Maharaja College Stadium.
He had broken the Indian national record, set two years ago, by 0.12 seconds.

Rohit Sharma Becomes Second Indian to Reach 12,000 Runs in T20s

Rohit Sharma, the opening batsman for Mumbai Indians (MI), became the second Indian cricketer after Virat Kohli to score 12,000 runs in T20 cricket. This milestone was reached during the IPL 2025 match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Rohit's achievement places him among the elite group of cricketers who have scored over 12,000 runs in the shortest format of the game, making him the eighth batter overall to do so.

South Asian (SAAF) Senior Athletics Championships 2025 Postponed

The South Asian Senior Athletics Championships 2025, originally scheduled for May 3 to 5, 2025 in Ranchi, Jharkhand, were postponed for the second time in seven months. Initially planned for October 2024, the delay this time has reportedly been due to visa clearance issues involving Pakistani athletes. The event was expected to host top athletes from across South Asia, including Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan and top Sri Lankan athletes. The new tentative window for the competition is now the second or third week of June 2025, subject to visa resolution.

Vithya Wins Gold with New Meet Record, qualifies for Asian Championships

Vithya Ramraj, as an Asian Games medallist won the gold in the women's 400m hurdles event at the 28th National Federation Senior Athletics Championships in Kochi, Kerala.
The Tamil Nadu sprinter clocked 56.04 seconds and finished ahead of her competitors with a strong finish.
In the men's 400m hurdles, Karnataka's Yashas P clocked 49.32 seconds and won the gold medal. However, he failed to qualify for the Asian Championships as the qualifying mark was set at 49.19 seconds.

India to Host 2nd Asian Yogasana Sports Championship from April 25 to 27

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Yogasana Bharat, officially announced that India will host the 2nd Asian Yogasana Sports Championship from April 25 to 27 at the prestigious Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.
Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, will grace the opening ceremony on April 25 as the Chief Guest, further reinforcing India's commitment to promoting Yogasana as a competitive global sport.
