TDRS-M Satellite Launched

The US space agency NASA launched the latest Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS-M) in a series of satellites to ensure the astronauts at the International Space Station (ISS) can communicate with Earth.

The satellite will facilitate space-to-ground communication for NASA's low-Earth orbit operations, ensuring scientists, engineers and control room staff can readily access data for missions like the Hubble Space Telescope and the International Space Station.
TDRS-M is the last of 13 such satellites that have been launched since 1983.

Cargo Ship Arrives at ISS

  • SpaceX's unmanned Dragon cargo ship arrived at the International Space Station (ISS), carrying the first super-computer to space.
  • It is the 12th mission for SpaceX under a $1.6 billion contract with NASA.
  • Researchers want to see if the computer can survive the harsh conditions of space, and whether it could one day help astronauts navigate long missions in deep space, whether around the Moon or to Mars.
