Kerala's Wayanad Becomes First District in Country to Provide Basic Documents to all Tribal People

Wayanad district in Kerala became the first district in the country to provide basic documents and facilities such as Aadhaar cards, ration cards, birth/death certificates, election ID cards, bank accounts and health insurance to all tribes' people.
The Wayanad district administration attained the meritorious achievement by providing 1,42,563 services to as many as 64,670 tribal beneficiaries as part of the Akshaya Big Campaign for Document Digitisation (ABCD) campaign. The drive was launched in November 2021 at Thondarnadu grama panchayat.

PM Names 21 Andaman & Nicobar Islands after Gallantry Award Winners

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts to give due honour and recognition to real-life heroes, the PM participated in a ceremony to name 21 largest unnamed Andaman and Nicobar Islands after 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees via video conferencing.
The move was taken on Parakram Diwas, also known as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti. The national event marked the birth anniversary of prominent Indian freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
PM Modi said that the islands named after Param Vir Chakra awardees will be site of inspiration for generations to come.

PM Modi Attends All India Conference of DGs and IGs of Police 2022 in Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the All India Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police 2022 in New Delhi. The three-day conference was inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah. Discussions on futuristic themes in policing and security took place during the conference. Besides, a wide range of issues including Cyber Crime, Technology in Policing, Counter Terrorism challenges, Left Wing Extremism, Capacity Building, and Prison Reforms were also parts of discussions during the conference.

Jammu and Kashmir Govt. Launches Food Processing Project

The Jammu and Kashmir government launched an ambitious project targeted to revolutionise the food processing sector and transform the lives of farmers in the UT.
The "UT Level Food Processing Programme for Development of Clusters for Specific Products of J&K" is a Rs. 879.75 crore initiative that aims to maximise farmer income and minimise post-harvest losses.
This comprehensive project has been designed to increase the competitiveness of seven identified products across categories in terms of cost, quality, branding, and sustainability within five years. The government is investing in value addition, logistics, marketing and branding of various agricultural, horticultural and livestock products to achieve this goal.
The project will focus on developing 17 districts in J&K with establishment of processing and marketing infrastructure, providing growth and development opportunities to stakeholders, and facilitating suitable economies of scale in production and post-harvest activities.

SBI General Insurance Collaborates with HP Police and Doers NGO

SBI General Insurance partnered with Doers NGO to support the Himachal Pradesh police in reducing the number of road accidents. As part of its CSR program, SBI General provided a well-equipped ambulance for immediate medical care for road accident victims in the Mandi district within the crucial "Golden Hour".
The partnership between SBI General, Doers NGO, the Himachal Pradesh Police, and the Civil Hospital in Sundarnagar aims to provide timely treatment and access to lifesaving medical resources for road accident victims. In addition to this, SBI General also collaborated with the Himachal Pradesh Police to provide road signages to increase awareness and caution in accident-prone areas on the highway, with the goal of preventing road accidents.

Vikram Dev Dutt Appointed as DGCA Director General

The Centre approved the appointment of IAS officer Vikram Dev Dutt as the next chief of aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Dutt, a 1993 batch IAS officer, is currently serving as the CMD of Air India Assets Holding Ltd (AIAHL). He will take over as the head of the aviation regulator on February 28, upon the superannuation of incumbent DGCA chief Arun Kumar.
Kumar, a 1989-batch IAS officer, was leading the DGCA as its DG since July 2019.
Earlier, Dutt had also served as the CMD of Air India. He had taken charge in January 2022.

Centre Names Praveen Sharma as Director Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission

The Union government cleared the appointment of Praveen Sharma, a 2005 batch officer from Indian Defence Service of Engineers (IDSE) as director of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. The appointment of Sharma was cleared after the ministry of defence recommended the name of Sharma for central deputation.

India Extends USD 40 mn Assistance to Maldives for Bolstering Sports Infra

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said that India extended a concessional $ 40 million Line of Credit for developing sporting infrastructure in the Maldives.
This is part of New Delhi's efforts to bring PM Narendra Modi's flagship projects such as "Fit India" and "Khelo India" into the ambit of the 'Neighbourhood First.

The First G20 Health Working Group Meeting Begins in Thiruvananthapuram

The three-day meeting of the first Health Working Group under India's G20 presidency began in Thiruvananthapuram. Union Minister of State for Health, Bharti Praveen Pawar and Union Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muralidharan addressed the meeting. Ms. Pawar making the inaugural address said that G-20 countries are committed to ensure Universal health care.

EC Announces Assembly Poll Schedule for Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura

The Election Commission announced the schedule for Assembly elections to the three states of Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland. All the constituencies of Tripura will vote in a single phase on February 16. Meghalaya and Nagaland will vote on February 27. Votes will be counted in all the three states on March 2.
The tenures of the three assemblies, with 60 seats each, end on March 12, 15 and 22, respectively. Last week, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioners Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel had visited the three North-eastern states to review the poll preparations. The poll schedule of the three states were chalked out keeping in mind Board examinations and the movement of security forces.

Ranchi Meteorological Centre Adjudged Best in the Country

The Ranchi Meteorological Centre was adjudged the best among such facilities across the states.
The performance of the Ranchi centre in disseminating weather-related information to its stakeholders in time with a higher accuracy rate was appreciated by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The incharge of the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, Abhishek Anand, received the award from Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Earth Sciences, at a programme to commemorate the 148th foundation day of IMD in New Delhi.

Fresh Powers Delegated to Delhi Lt-Governor

President Droupadi Murmu delegated fresh powers to the Lt-Governors of Delhi, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Chandigarh, Puducherry and Lakshadweep under the Industrial Relations Code, 2020, and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020.
Under the Industrial Relations Code, 2020, the government can exempt any new industrial establishment or class of establishments from the provisions of the Code in public interest. The second notification talks about delegation of powers under the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, to the administrator and L-G of these six UTs. The notifications came amid the tussle between the Delhi Government and Lt-Governor V.K. Saxena over control on bureaucracy.

Hyderabad Selected to Host WEF Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution

The World Economic Forum (WEF) announced the establishment of a Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR Telangana) in Hyderabad. It will focus on healthcare and life sciences, with the goal of accelerating product development and delivery innovation within the Indian healthcare system.
The C4IR Telangana will be a collaboration between the WEF and the government of Telangana, with the support of the private sector.
The initiative will be led by the Telangana Life Sciences Foundation, and will be an autonomous non-profit organization.
The WEF President, Børge Brende, stated that India has a unique opportunity to lead healthcare and life sciences in South Asia, and that the C4IR Telangana will play a key role in driving stakeholder engagement and building bridges between the public sector and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The new Centre will be an autonomous non-profit organization and will be the 18th Centre in WEF's Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) network.
