Fortune World's Best Workplaces 2025

  • Sixteen of the 25 companies recognised in the Fortune World's Best Workplaces 2025 list have operations in India. The list compiled by Great Place To Work, the research partner of Fortune, is based on more than 9 million survey responses representing the experiences of over 25 million workers around the globe.
  • The list highlights large organisations with more than 5,000 employees that demonstrated consistency in employee trust, workplace fairness, and collaboration across multiple countries. Companies needed to appear on at least five regional Best Workplaces lists to qualify.
  • This year's (2025) recognised organisations include multinationals from hospitality, technology, healthcare, financial services, and manufacturing.

Thai King Becomes Country's First Monarch to Visit China

  • Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn arrived in Beijing, becoming the first reigning Thai monarch to make a state visit to China, in what analysts say is a sign of the Asian giant's increasing influence on his kingdom.
  • A constitutional monarchy since 1932, Thailand has used royal visits as foreign policy tools, including two U.S. trips by King Vajiralongkorn's father, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, during the height of the Cold War in the 1960s.
  • The visit was at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping to celebrate the 50th anniversary of both countries establishing diplomatic ties for the first time in 1975.

Oman Joins UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Council

  • In a major achievement, Oman was elected as a member of the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Council for the term 2025–2029. The election took place during the 43rd UNESCO General Conference, which concluded on November 13, 2025, held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. This marks a significant recognition of Oman's efforts in promoting sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and harmony between humans and nature.
  • This event marked the first time the conference was held outside of Paris in over 40 years.
  • The Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme, launched by UNESCO in 1971, is an international scientific initiative that works to improve the relationship between humans and their environment.

Pakistan Puts Asim Munir's Army above State

  • The Pakistan government's 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill grants sweeping powers to the country's Army Chief, Asim Munir. Under the constitutional changes passed by the Upper House of parliament, Munir will take overall command of the military. His new position will be Chief of Defence Forces.
  • The amendment, which was passed by the Senate, seeks to change Article 243 of the Pakistan Constitution.

President of India Participates in the Celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Angola's Independence

  • At the invitation of President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, President Droupadi Murmu participated in the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Angola's Independence in November 2025. In a colourful ceremony held at the Praça da República in Luanda, the President joined President Lourenço and witnessed a vibrant display of Angola's military and cultural traditions.

Catherine Connolly Becomes 10th President of Ireland

  • In Ireland, Independent left-wing politician Catherine Connolly was elected its 10th President after a landslide victory. She defeated her rival Heather Humphreys. A seasoned politician and political performer, Connolly has been Member of Parliament since 2016 for the Galway West constituency and also served as Deputy Speaker of the Irish Parliament. Official results showed strong voter support for Connolly as President.
