Dalibor Svrcina Wins Maha Open ATP Challenger 100 Men's Championship

  • Czech Republic's Dalibor Svrcina beat USA's Brandon Holt and won the men's singles title in the Maha Open ATP Challenger 100 men's tennis championship.
  • It has been a solid run for Dalibor Svrcina in the three ATP Challenger events in India. He made the semi-finals in Chennai and the second round in Delhi.

Manu Bhaker to Lead 35-member Shooting Team to World Cups in South America

  • Ace pistol shooter Manu Bhaker is set to lead a 35-member Indian contingent at the ISSF World Cups in South America, starting April 1, 2025 and concluding on 22, marking the beginning of the international shooting season. The squad comprises nearly all the shooters who participated in the Paris Olympics, ensuring a strong representation on the global stage.
  • Almost all the shooters who featured in the Paris Olympics made the cut. A notable member of the team is air pistol ace Saurabh Chaudhary, who returns to the national side after more than three years.

  • Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse along with Sudhir Mungantiwar, MLA & former minister in Government of Maharashtra inaugurated 26th Maharashtra State Inter-University Sports Meet at Chandrapur, Maharashtra.
  • The competition hosted under aegis of Chancellor of State Universities hosted by Gondwana University, Gadchiroli marks the first time in the university's history that it received the honour of organising a state-level sports festival.
  • The sports meet will features 8 sports disciplines - Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Athletics and Chess for boys and girls with an expected participation of more than 3500 athletes. Matches are going being held at multiple venues in Chandrapur and Ballarpur forest area, with competitions taking place in morning and evening sessions.

Haryana Reigns Supreme at 23rd National Paralympic Athletics Championship

  • Haryana emerged as the overall champion of the 23rd National Paralympic Athletics Championship, securing an impressive tally of 49 gold, 32 silver, and 25 bronze medals.
  • Tamil Nadu, the host state, finished second with 17 gold, 18 silver, and 12 bronze, while Uttar Pradesh claimed the third position with 14 gold, 17 silver, and 11 bronze medals.
  • Rajasthan finished fourth with 13 gold, 22 silver and 26 bronze while Maharashtra finished fifth with 11 gold 3 silver and 13 bronze. The championship, held in Tamil Nadu from February 18 to 20, 2025, witnessed exceptional performances by para-athletes from across the country.
  • The championship, organised by the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority and the Tamil Nadu Paralympic Sports Association, witnessed participation from 1,476 para-athletes representing 30 states and union territories, competing across 155 events.

  • Organised by the All India Tennis Association (AITA) and the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association, the Delhi Open 2025 was an ATP Challenger 75 tournament played on hard courts with USD 100,000 as prize money on offer.

Ranchi to host 4th South Asian Senior Athletics Championships in May

  • The 4th South Asian Senior Athletics Championship will be held from May 3 to 5, 2025, at the Birsa Munda Athletics Stadium in Ranchi, Jharkhand, with countries like India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives participating; this event will serve as a qualifier for regional and international competitions.
  • Ranchi was originally scheduled to host the championships from October 4 to 6, 2024 but the event was postponed. This event marks the return of the championships to India after 17 years, with the last edition held in 2008. The first two editions of the South Asian Senior Athletics Championships were held in 1997 and 1998.
