Indian Men's Team Clinches Bronze Medal at Asian Table Tennis Championships 2023
In Table Tennis, Indian men's team finished with a bronze medal at the Asian Table Tennis Championships 2023 following a semi-final defeat to Chinese Taipei in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The Indian men's table tennis team comprising Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran lost 0-3 in their final four matches. The two losing semi-finalists were awarded bronze medals at the competition. The Asian Table Tennis Championships 2023 was also a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Divya Deshmukh Emerges Winner of 2023 Tata Steel Chess India Women's Rapid Tournament
Divya Deshmukh, a Chess Woman Grandmaster hailing from Nagpur, Maharashtra, India clinched victory in the women's category of the rapid section at the Tata Steel Chess India tournament. She dominated the competition by securing victories in all three rounds of the tournament, which took place at the National Library in Kolkata.
Deshmukh secured the top position with a remarkable score of 7 points, while the reigning world champion, Ju Wenjun of China, closely followed with 6.5 points. Russia's Polina Shuvalova finished third with a score of 5.5 points.
China's Jiang Huihua Breaks Mirabai Chanu's World Record
Chinese lifter Jiang Huihua obliterated Tokyo Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu's clean-and-jerk world record by lifting 120 kg at the World Championships.
Huihua bettered Chanu's record of 119 kg, which the Indian had created at the 2021 Asian Championships, in the women's 49 kg clean and jerk section as she successfully defended her World Championships crown.
The Chinese lifter also created a new world record for the total lift as she heaved 215kg, two kilograms better than the previous world mark (213kg) which was in her compatriot and reigning Olympic champion Hou Zhihui's name.
