First International Conference on Digital Skilling

The Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Alkesh Kumar Sharma inaugurated the First International Conference on Digital Skilling under NICE-DT (NIELIT's International Conference on Communication, Electronics and Digital Technologies) in New Delhi. The event was organised by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), under the administrative control of Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India.
The International Conference fostered collaboration and knowledge-sharing among stakeholders in the field of digital skilling and develop strategies for up skilling & re-skilling workers globally to engineer the blueprint for creating "Global Future Ready Workforce" thereby contributing towards the achievement of building India as the skilling capital of the World.

ISRO Launches New Rocket SSLV-D2 from Sriharikota

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched the second edition of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV-D2) from the first launch pad of Satish Dhawan space centre at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
The new rocket will attempt to put three satellites - ISRO's EOS-07, US-based firm Antaris' Janus-1, and Chennai-based space start-up SpaceKidz's AzaadiSAT-2 - into a 450 km circular orbit during its 15-minute flight.

ISRO-NASA 'NISAR' Satellite

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), jointly developed an Earth-observation satellite, called NISAR (NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar), got a send-off ceremony at the American space agency's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Southern California. ISRO will use NISAR for a variety of purposes including agricultural mapping, and monitoring of glaciers in the Himalayas, landslide-prone areas and changes in the coastline.
The SUV-size satellite will be shipped to India in a special cargo container flight later this month for a possible launch from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh. NISAR is expected to be launched in January 2024 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre into a near-polar orbit. The satellite will operate for a minimum of three years. NASA requires the L-band radar for its global science operations for at least three years. Meanwhile, ISRO will utilise the S-band radar for a minimum of five years.

ISRO Conducts Initial Trials of Human Space Mission Crew moDule Recovery

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), along with the Indian Navy, conducted an important trial for the Gaganyaan, human space flight mission. They carried out initial recovery trials of the Crew Module in the Navy's Water Survival Test Facility (WSTF) in Kochi.
The trials were part of the preparation for crew module recovery operations for the Gaganyaan mission that will be carried out in Indian waters with the participation of Indian Government agencies, the overall recovery operations being led by the Indian Navy.
According to ISRO, as the safe recovery of the crew is the final step to be accomplished for any successful human spaceflight, it is of paramount importance and it has to be carried out with the minimum lapse of time.

Skye Air Mobility Comes Out with Unmanned Air Traffic Management System

Drone delivery company Skye Air Mobility came out with an unmanned air traffic management system that will provide situational awareness, autonomous navigation and risk assessment to all drone and other aerial mobility operators.
The system 'Skye UTM' was unveiled by Union Minister for Road and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.
Skye UTM captures more than 255+ parameters of UAV movements and stores them into its 'Blackbox', which is a published systematic description of the entire flight.

Tech Mahindra to Open its First Data, AI and Cloud Centre in Saudi Arabia

IT major Tech Mahindra signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of Saudi Arabia to set up a data, AI, and cloud centre of excellence (CoE) in Riyadh.
The CoE will combine academic and socio-economic goals to build national Hi-tech talent capacity, create high-quality jobs, promote digital innovation, and upscale small & medium enterprises.
This partnership is in line with Tech Mahindra's DigitALL philosophy for comprehensive Business Transformation.
The MoU was signed between Ibrahem N Al-Nasser, Deputy Minister for Technology of MCIT, and Ram Ramachandran, Head-Middle East & Africa, Tech Mahindra.
