Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela to be Hosted in 200 Locations

With an aim to connect the youth with more opportunities for on-ground training within corporates and further a chance to get employment, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will be organising the Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela every month. The PM National Apprenticeship Mela will take place across 200+ locations in India.
The primary goal of this programme is to encourage the hiring of apprentices from these cities, as well as to assist employers in identifying and developing their potential through training and practical skillsets bringing value to their workplace.
Candidates will also receive Apprenticeship certificates recognised by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) at the end of their training period, which will give them industry recognition.

PM Inaugurates Jagatguru Sreesant Tukaram Maharaj Shila Mandir at Dehu in Pune

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Sant Tukaram became not only a ray of hope for the present society but for the future also. The Prime Minister said this while addressing devotees after inaugurating the Shila Mandir of Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj at Dehu village near Pune. He said that Veer Savarkar sang abhangs (devotional poetry in praise of Lord Vitthal) of Sant Tukaram while in jail during India's freedom struggle.
Sant Tukaram was a Warkari saint and poet, famously known for Abhanga devotional poetry and community-oriented worship through spiritual songs known as Kirtans. He lived in Dehu. A Shila Mandir was built after his demise, but it was not formally structured as a Temple. It has been rebuilt in stone masonry with 36 peaks, and also carries an idol of Sant Tukaram. Earlier, the Prime Minister visited the statues of Vitthal-Rukmini in the main temple of Dehu. He also worshiped the symbolic pillar of Bhagwat Dharma built in front of the Shila Mandir.

PM Modi Chairs First National Conference of Chief Secretaries in Dharamshala

Implementation of the National Education Policy, urban governance, and crop diversification figured prominently in the agenda of the national conference of Chief Secretaries, in Dharamshala, which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It was a significant step towards further strengthening the partnership between the Centre and the State Governments.
Apart from Chief Secretaries of States and UTs, over 200 senior officials and domain experts, including those engaged with the Union government, participated in the conference, which had sessions on economic growth in partnership with the states.

West Bengal Assembly Passes Bill to Make Mamata Banerjee Chancellor of State Universities

The West Bengal Assembly passed a bill to make Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee the chancellor of all state universities, a position traditionally held by the state Governor. The West Bengal University Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2022 was passed by 182 votes in favor against 40 not in favor in the 294-member Assembly.
State Education Minister Bratya Basu introduced the bill and said that there was "nothing wrong" in Chief Minister taking over as the chancellor. The BJP opposed the bill and alleged that appointing the Chief Minister as chancellor would lead to direct "political interference" in the state's higher education system.

J&K Ranks Highest among UTs in National E-governance Service Delivery Assessment (NeSDA)

Jammu and Kashmir, assessed for the first time, ranked the highest among Union Territories with an overall compliance of nearly 90 per cent for national e-governance service delivery assessment (NeSDA). Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh released the NeSDA 2021 Report which provides suggestions for governments to further enhance their e-Governance service delivery systems.
Meghalaya and Nagaland are the leading State Portals with an overall compliance of more than 90 per cent across all assessment parameters among the northeast and hill states.Kerala, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh had a compliance of more than 85 per cent among the Remaining States category.

DIPAM Organises Conference on the Theme "Creating Wealth through Market"

In the context of "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM)" celebrations, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) organised a conference on the theme "Creating Wealth through Market" as an iconic event in 75 cities across the country.
DIPAM took the initiative of educating and empowering people in 75 cities across India about investments and creating wealth as well as on the steps taken by the government for ensuring financial growth of her citizens.
The Conference programme included live Inaugural Addresses by Hon'ble Finance Minister and Hon'ble Minister of State (Finance), followed by a session at the local venue in 75 cities with eminent speakers comprising of financial Experts/ Professionals/ Bankers/ Influencers etc.

Ex-registrar of MSU, N. J. Ojha Appointed as MGNREGA Ombudsman

Ex-registrar of MSU, N. J. Ojha was appointed as ombudsman under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) for a 2-year term. An ombudsman has the power to receive complaints from MGNREGA workers, consider such complaints, pass awards within 30 days from the date of receipt of complaint and issue direction for conducting spot investigation and also initiate proceedings 'suo motu' if there are any grievance including on issues related to delayed payment of wages or non-payment of unemployment allowance. The ombudsman must report his award to the district programme coordinator of the district and secretary of state nodal department. If the need arises, he can mark a copy to the chief secretary.
MGNREGA was launched in 2005 to augment employment generation and social security in India. It is a demand-driven wage employment scheme under Ministry of Rural Development.

Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao Gears up for 2024 Lok Sabha Polls, to Launch National Party

Ahead of the election for the next President of India, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao is all set to launch a national party this month. The name of the new political party is likely to be `Bharatiya Rastra Samiti`. KCR had met several opposition leaders, and the move is seen as a longer stride to gather opposition leaders just ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
According to reports, Telangana NRIs from across the world unanimously adopted a resolution in support of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao`s decision to foray into national politics.Telangana NRIs coordinator B Ganesh moved a resolution seeking the support of NRIs to TRS Supremo and KCR`s move to enter into national politics in a Zoom meeting attended by NRIs from different countries.

PM Modi Inaugurates Biotech Startup Expo - 2022 in New Delhi

PM Modi inaugurated the Biotech Startup Expo 2022 at New Delhi's Pragati Maidan organised by the Department of Biotechnology to celebrate 10 years of Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), showcasing 75 successful startups supported by the agency. He also launched a Biotech products e-portal of 750 biotech products.
Speaking of India's bio-economy, the Prime Minister said that India have grown from $10 billion to $80 billion and we are not too far from reaching the league of top-10 countries in biotech's global ecosystem.
In the last eight years, the number of startups in our country increased from a few hundred to 70,000. These 70,000 startups are made in about 60 different industries. In this also, more than 5,000 startups are associated with biotech.

NHAI Sets New Guinness World Record, Lays 75-km Long Highway in 105 Hours

A new Guinness World Record was created by NHAI in laying 75 km of bituminous concrete in a single lane on NH53 in 105 hours and 33 minutes. Commemorating 75 years of India's independence and under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, NHAI created a world record that was certified by the Guinness World Records.
Gadkari congratulated all the engineers, contractors, consultants, and workers from NHAI and Raj Path Infracon Pvt Ltd for the efficient implementation of the project that has helped in the successful completion of this world record. The project was implemented by 720 workers including a team of independent consultants who worked day and night to complete this task.

Presidential Election 2022 to be Held on 18 July

The election to choose the next President of India will be held on July 18 and the results will be announced on July 21, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced. The term of President Ram Nath Kovind ends on July 24. Ram Nath Kovind had received over 65% votes in 2017. Electoral college for President's Election comprises 776 MPs and 4033 MLAs, Total 4809. President is elected by an Electoral College, which consists of the elected members of both Houses of Parliament and the elected members of the Legislative Assemblies of all the States and Union Territories.
Commission directed to ensure the use of eco-friendly and biodegradable materials and eliminate the use of prohibited plastic/materials, as a part of its endeavor to make elections eco-friendly. Nomination can be filed either by the candidate himself or by any of his proposers or seconders between 11 am to 3 pm on the specified days.

International Aluminium Institute Elects Satish Pai as New Chairman

The International Aluminium Institute (IAI), the only body representing the global primary aluminium industry, announced the appointment of Satish Pai as its new Chair. He is the Managing Director of Hindalco Industries, one of the world's largest integrated producers of aluminium. Earlier serving as Vice Chairman, he succeeds Ben Kahrs, Chief Innovation Officer, Alcoa Corporation. An engineer by education and profession, Satish earlier worked with Schlumberger, based out of Paris, where he was responsible for Schlumberger's operations globally.
The IAI's purpose is to promote the sustainable development of the aluminium industry and to increase demand for aluminium products by raising awareness of their unique and valuable properties.
