S. Jaishankar Embarks on A 3-Nation Visit to South American Continent

Looking forward to augmenting relationships with all nations of the Latin American Region, External Affairs minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has embarked on a three-nation visit.
During the Minister's meeting with top leaderships of these three countries as well as his counterpart, focus will be on food and energy security, defence and security, space, IT, and aerospace.
This is the minister's first visit to the South American Region when he travels to Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina starting August 22-27.
The minister, accompanied by senior officials, will have bilateral engagements with his counterparts and will also call on the top leadership in all the three countries.

Vikram Doraiswami appointed to UK as India's High Commissioner

Vikram K. Doraiswami, a seasoned diplomat appointed as India's new High Commissioner to the United Kingdom which is seen as a significant position given the two nations' expanding strategic alliance.
Vikram K. Doraiswami is Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh currently. He is an Indian Foreign Service officer from the 1992 batch. At May 1994, Vikram K.
Doraiswami was appointed Third Secretary in the Indian High Commission in Hong Kong after completing his in-service training in New Delhi between 1992 and 1993.

International Astronomy & Astrophysics Olympiad: India ranks 3rd

Indian team secured the third rank in the medal tally at the 15th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA). India held the third position jointly with Singapore with students winning three gold and two silver medals. In the medals tally, India was placed jointly in the third position along with Singapore, behind Iran's official team (5 golds) and guest team (4 golds, 1 silver).

Paraguay: Bust of Mahatma Gandhi unveiled

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar unveiled a statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Paraguay during his first official visit to South America. He also praised the decision of Asuncion Municipality to put the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the main bank of the city. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is on an official visit to Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina from 22-27 August.

Egypt releases Postage Stamp celebrating 75th Anniversary of diplomatic ties with India

In an unique move Egypt Post on Thursday released a commemorative postage stamp to celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations between Egypt and India that were established with Egypt's recognition of the independence of India on 18 August 1947, just three days after India's independence. Over millennia, Egypt and India have long been bound together with historic ties in all fields. This was made possible thanks to the trade contacts between the two ancient civilizations that grew along the banks of the river Nile and the river Indus.

Nepal Opens its First-ever Human Milk Bank for Premature, at-risk Infants

Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari inaugurated the Himalayan nation's first-ever human milk bank at a maternity and women's hospital here to give premature and other at-risk infants access to the vast benefits of breast milk when they need it the most.
Amrit Kosh, the human milk bank at the Paropakar Maternity and Women's Hospital has the facilities to collect, pasteurise, test, and store safe donor human milk from lactating mothers and then provide it to infants in need.
The centre has been established in partnership between the Government of Nepal, the European Union and UNICEF.
