Italian Grand Prix: Red Bull's Max Verstappen Holds off McLaren's Lando Norris for Thrilling Win

Three-time world champion and series leader Max Verstappen returned to winning ways on Sunday when he resisted a late charge by Lando Norris to take a dramatic victory for Red Bull at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
After being beaten in Miami, where friend and rival Norris claimed his maiden victory for McLaren, the Dutchman resisted him to come home 0.725 seconds ahead of the Briton who mounted a rousing final attack in vain.
Charles Leclerc finished third for Ferrari ahead of Oscar Piastri in the second McLaren, Carlos Sainz in the second Ferrari and seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton and his Mercedes team-mate George Russell.

Satwik-Chirag Win Second Title of 2024

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated the the Chinese pair of Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi 21-15, 21-15 in the final of the Thailand Open. It's a tournament that has a special place in the careers of Satwik and Chirag as they won the title in 2019 for their first Superseries / Super 500 level victory. And on Sunday they clinched their Thailand Open title.
The world number three Indian pair is also the top seeds in this tournament.

City, with the latest title, went past arch-rivals Manchester United for most consecutive Premier League titles and now are the first team to win four consecutive PL titles.
Their fiercest title contender of the season Arsenal finished second despite 2-1 win against Everton. Arsenal were on top for the most weeks in the season before City took over with a 2-0 win against the Tottenham Hotspurs last week. For Arsenal to win the title, they had to win their final league game while City had to lose their against West Ham.

Iga Swiatek refused to take victory at the French Open for granted despite romping to a third Rome title when sweeping aside Aryna Sabalenka 6-2, 6-3 in the final.
World number one Swiatek will be red-hot favourite to successfully defend her Roland Garros crown after comfortably prevailing on the clay against second-ranked Sabalenka.
In front of a packed centre court crowd Swiatek became the first woman since Serena Williams in 2013 to win on the clay surface at Madrid and Rome in the same season.

Nandini Dairy will sponsor Scotland for T20 World Cup 2024

The management of the Scotland cricket team unveiled its jersey with a logo of Karnataka's home-grown Nandini dairy for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) that runs the Nandini brand is the official sponsor of the Scotland team, and this is the first time the milk brand has gone international.
The brand name and logo that was written in Kannada was seen on the sleeves of players' T shirts that were launched.

The 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup will be held in Brazil. This is a big deal in the world of international women's football. Brazil will be hosting this prestigious event for the first time. For the fourth time in his career, Cristiano Ronaldo topped the Forbes list of highest paid-athletes while Spanish golfer Jon Rahm moved to the second spot. Ronaldo's arch-rival Lionel Messi is at the third position in the list, whereas France superstar Kylian Mbappe dropped down to the sixth spot.
Ronaldo became the world's highest-paid athlete after his switch from Manchester United to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr in late 2022.
Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James -- who is nearing retirement -- came at the fourth spot at $128.2 million. Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo ($111 million) followed James at the fifth spot whereas France football captain Mbappe is sixth ($110 million) on the list.

T20 World Cup to Stream and Broadcast with Sign Language, Audio Description

In a first for Indian sports streaming, the ICC Men's T20 cricket World Cup will be streamed with Hindi audio description and Indian Sign Language (ISL) for visually and hearing impaired viewers, Disney+ Hotstar, the streaming service with the rights to stream the tournament this year (2024) announced.

Football Legend Sunil Chhetri Announces Retirement

Sunil Chhetri, the legendary player from Indian football who began playing for his country in 2005, announced his retirement from international football.
He will play his final game for India on June 6, at Kolkata, during the FIFA World Cup qualifier for 2026, against Kuwait. Chhetri who has the most appearances and goals for the Indian national team, is regarded as one of the best football players in the country.
Chhetri is third among active players globally in terms of goals scored for his country, only behind Messi and the Cristiano Ronaldo.
Chhetri is the first Indian player to rank among the top 10 goal scorers in history.

Boxer Abhishek Yadav Storms into Semi-finals of Elorda Cup

India's Abhishek Yadav produced a dominating performance and entered the semi-finals of the Elorda Cup 2024, in Astana, Kazakhstan, beating Kazakhstan's Rakhat Seitzhan. Meanwhile, Pawan Bartwal (54kg), Kavinder Singh Bisht (57kg), Varinder Singh (60kg) and Hitesh (71kg) suffered losses in their respective quarter-finals.

Federation Cup 2024: Neeraj Chopra Wins Javelin Gold with 82.27 m Throw

India's star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal in Federation Cup 2024, held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, with a throw of 82.27 m. This was Chopra's first event in India since winning the historic gold medal at 2022 Tokyo Olympics. He last participated in the Federation Cup in 2021 and had won the gold with 87.80-m throw.
