2025 Asian Athletics Championships

India finished second in the Asian Athletics Championships 2025 medals tally after the final day, in Gumi, South Korea.
It was the 26th edition of the Asian Athletics Championships
China ended on top with 26 medals (15 gold), followed by India and Japan.

Shreyas Iyer Creates History, Becomes First IPL Captain to Lead Three Different Teams to the IPL ...

Shreyas Iyer is leading Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, and he entered his name in the history books by becoming the first captain in the world to lead three different teams to the IPL final.
Iyer played a super knock for the Mohali-based franchise in the second qualifier of IPL 2025 against Mumbai Indians at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He remained unbeaten on 87 runs from 41 balls.
Iyer made his captaincy debut in the IPL for Delhi Capitals during the 2018 edition and led them to the IPL final in the 2020 edition, where they finished as runner-up. He captained Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2022 and 2024 and won his maiden IPL title as captain with the Kolkata-based franchise last year (2024).
By leading PBKS to the IPL 2025 final, Iyer also became the fourth captain in the world after MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya to play back-to-back IPL finals and the first captain to play back-to-back finals with two different teams.

Heinrich Klaasen Announces His Retirement from International Cricket

Aman Sehrawat Clinches Bronze at Ulaanbaatar Open 2025

Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat was back in action for the first time since the Paris Olympics 2024 as he appeared in the men's 57kg freestyle category at the Ulaanbaatar, Momgolia, Open 2025 wrestling Ranking Series, where he won a bronze medal.
Sehrawat, India's youngest individual Olympic medallist, started with a dominant 11-1 win over Kyrgyzstan's Almaz Smanbekov in his quarter-final. However, he was narrowly beaten by Pan American champion Roman Bravo-Young of Mexico in the semis.

Glenn Maxwell Announces ODI Retirement

Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell announced his retirement from ODI cricket, calling time on an illustrious 13-year career for the national side in the 50-over format.
Maxwell, who first played for Australia in international cricket in an ODI in 2012, was part of the World Cup-winning teams in 2015 and 2023.

Piastri Wins in Spain, Verstappen Demoted

Formula One leader Oscar Piastri won the Spanish Grand Prix from pole position in a McLaren one-two with Lando Norris while Max Verstappen was demoted from fifth to tenth for a late collision with George Russell's Mercedes.
Piastri beat teammate and title rival Norris by 2.471 seconds for his fifth win in nine races this season.

Mary Earps, one of England's top football goalkeepers, has decided to retire from International football.
She shared this news just before England's important matches in the UEFA Women's Nations League.
Her retirement means she will not play in the UEFA European Championship this summer.

Rohit Sharma Becomes First Indian Batter to Smash 300 Sixes in IPL

Rohit Sharma, one of the most prolific and celebrated batters in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, etched his name into the record books once again by becoming the first Indian cricketer to hit 300 sixes in the IPL.
The historic moment came during the IPL 2025 Eliminator match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at New Chandigarh on Friday.
With this feat, Rohit joins an elite list of only two players in the league's history to achieve this landmark - the other being the legendary Chris Gayle, who remains the undisputed king of six- hitting in IPL.

India's Mahendra Gurjar Sets World Record in World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Switzerland

India's Mahendra Gurjar made the country proud by setting a world record in the men's javelin F42 category at the Nottwil World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Switzerland.
The 27-year-old athlete won the gold medal with a record-breaking throw, proving his talent and determination.
Gurjar made a world record throw of 61.17 meters in his third attempt. His first two throws were 56.11 m and 55.51 m.
After the record throw, he also made three more throws measuring 58.54m, 57.54m and 58.07m.
He broke the previous world record of 59.19m, which was set by Brazil's Roberto Floriani Edenilson in 2022.
The F24 category is for athletes who have moderate movement problems in one leg. These attempts take part in field events like javelin and long jump.
