Rohit Sharma equals Rahul Dravid and Sunil Gavaskar's record

India captain Rohit Sharma was at his majestic best during the fifth and final Test against England in Dharamsala. Rohit not only notched up his 12th Test century against the Three Lions but also thwarted the England bowling attack, helping India extend their p e dominance in the five-matc ries where they already held a unassailable 3-1 lea .
Rohit guided Tom Hartley towards deep mid wicket for a single to reach the three-digit mark. This also saw the 36-year-old match the remarkable feat of Rahul Dravid, who also has 48 international centuries to his name.
Rohit's 12th Test century marked his 48th ton across all international formats (12 in Tests, 31 in ODIs, and 5 in T20Is), placing him on par with Dravid, who has 36 Test centuries and 12 in ODIs (total: 48) in his illustrious career.

Indian Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa Defeats Nodirbek Abdusattorov

Indian Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa defeated Nodirbek Abdusattorov of Uzbekistan in the sixth round of Prague International Chess Festival 2024 Masters to retain the fourth spot in the tournament. Abdusattorov remains as the sole leader despite the loss.
On the other hand, India's Vidit Gujrathi went down against Germany's Vincent Keymer from a winning position.
Gukesh D also lost his match against Mateusz Bartel of Poland. The Prague Chess Festival took place from February 27 to March 7 at Don Giovanni Hotel.

Minister Hardeep S. Puri Inaugurates 5th ONGC Para Games

Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs, inaugurated the 5th ONGC Para Games, praising para-athletes for their unwavering determination.
The event took place at Thyagaraj Stadium, New Delhi with the presence of Shri Pankaj Jain, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, and senior officials from Oil & Gas PSUs.
371 athletes, including 249 ONGCians, participating in the 5th ONGC Para Games across various sporting disciplines.

LG Manoj Sinha Inaugurates 23rd All India Police Water Sports Championship 2023-24

In the Kashmir Valley, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the 23rd All India Police Water Sports Championship 2023-24 (Men & Women) at Srinagar. A total of 30 teams (20 Men & 10 Women) comprising about 500 players and 60 technical officials, team managers participated in the tournament.

Indian Shuttler B. Sai Praneeth Retires from International Badminton

World Championships bronze medallist B. Sai Praneeth announced his retirement from international badminton, bringing down curtains on a successful career during which he won the Singapore Open and also represented India at the Tokyo Olympics. Sai from Hyderabad decided to hang his boost after battling nagging injuries since the Tokyo Games.
Praneeth will begin a new innings now as he is set to join as a head coach of Triangle Badminton Academy in USA.
In over a two-decade long international career, Praneeth had some fine moments but the 2017 Singapore Open Super Series win and the bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships in Basel, Switzerland were his crowning moment.

Shabnim Ismail Records Fastest Ball in Women's Cricket

Mumbai Indians pacer Shabnim Ismail recorded the fastest ball in recorded women's cricket, having breached the 130 kph barrier during the Women's Premier League (WPL 2024) match against Delhi Capitals in Delhi. Ismail delivered a 132.1 kph delivery as per the speed-gun on broadcast.
The South Africa pacer also holds the record for the fastest deliveries bowled in international women's cricket, having touched 128 kph against West Indies in 2016.
Ismail retired from international cricket in May 2023 shortly after the T20 World Cup at home, marking an end to a career spanning 16 yeards. She appeared for the Proteas in 241 internationals, picking up 317 wickets across formats. She remains as the second-highest wicket-take in women's ODIs (191) while leading the charts for South Africa in T20Is (123).

Devynne Charlton Creates New 60m Hurdles World Record

Devynne Charlton blazed to a world record in the women's 60 metres hurdles while pole vaulter Armand Duplantis pulled a remarkable performance out of what had been an off-night and won gold at the world indoor athletics championships in Glasgow, United Kingdom.
Charlton, from the Bahamas, clocked 7.65 seconds to shave two-hundredths of a second off the previous record she had shared with American Tia Jones.

Rajasthan Royals Appoints Saudi's NEOM as Main Partner in a Two-year Deal

Rajasthan Royals entered into a partnership with Saudi Arabia's smart city project NEOM, appointing it as the principal partner in a key two-year deal.
Under the terms of the agreement, Rajasthan Royals will sport NEOM's corporate brand logo on the chest of all official team clothing during India's premier T20 cricket league in 2024 and 2025, thereby imprinting further awareness of NEOM on a wide global audience.
NEOM, being built in the north-western Tabuk Province of Saudi, is boasted as a sustainably planned urban development initiative. The project is aimed at turning into an economic engine for the nation, driving business prospects, fostering innovation, and enhancing the overall quality of life for its residents.
Through the partnership, NEOM aims to create cricket opportunities with the help of Rajasthan Royals and the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation. As part of the deal, NEOM aims to leverage knowledge transfer opportunities, including cricket leadership training and an accredited program for developing coaches within the NEOM workforce.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Name Pat Cummins Skipper

Australia's World Cup-winning skipper Pat Cummins was named captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 2024 Indian Premier League season, becoming the fourth player to be handed the responsibility in the last three years.
He was bought by SRH for a whopping Rs. 20.50 crore in the IPL auctions in December 2023, making him the second costliest player in the event's history.
He replaced South African Aiden Markram, who led SRH in the 2023 season.
