Coco Gauff became the youngest player to win the WTA final title in 20 years with a gruelling 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7/2) victory over Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Gauff rallied back from 3-6, 1-3 down, and erased a one-break deficit twice in the decider, and overcame Zheng in three hours and four minutes – the second-longest WTA final in 2024.

Indian men's hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh and the legendary P. R. Sreejesh won the FIH Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year awards for the year 2024. Both Harmanpreet and Sreejesh received the recognition during the 49th FIH Statutory Congress in Oman.
Harmanpreet beat the Netherlands duo of Joep de Mol and Thierry Brinkman, Germany's Hannes Muller and England's Zach Wallace and bagged the top award.
Double Olympics medallist Sreejesh, who quit the game after the Paris Olympics, prevailed over Netherlands' Pirmin Blaak, Spain's Luis Calzado, Germany's Jean-Paul Danneberg and Argentina's Tomas Santiago to win the top prize among the men's goalkeepers.

Two-time Olympics medallist Neeraj Chopra announced that his idol Jan Zelezny as his new coach in the new Olympics cycle. Chopra, who parted ways with his long-time coach Klaus Bartonietz after the Paris Olympics, sought Zelezny's services after failing to break the 90m barrier for the last five years.

Moin-ul-Haq Stadium Redevelopment: Bihar Govt. Signs 30-year Lease with BCA
The Bihar Government and the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), granting the association a 30-year lease on the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in Patna.
The MoU officially transferred the stadium to the BCA and paved the way for the redevelopment of the 55-year-old stadium, which would be transformed into a state-of-the-art international standard sports complex.
It will be renovated with the financial support from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
