According to new research, the huge annual losses of ice from the Greenland cap are even worse than thought. The melt is not a short-term blip but a long-term trend.
The melting Greenland ice sheet is already a major contributor to rising sea level and if it was eventually lost entirely, the oceans would rise by six metres around the world, flooding many of the world’s largest cities.

Second Lowest Minimum for Arctic Ice
The sea-ice extent in the first week of September stood at 4.14 million sq km, some way short of the 3.39 million sq km record low in 2012.

Poaching is a widespread industry growing at a fast pace and this practice is promoting the already flourishing business of illegal wildlife trade.
Officials at the International Union for Conservation of Nature's global conference have confirmed that the majestic species of Eastern Gorillas (Gorilla beringei) now faces the risk of disappearing completely, with just 5,000 left.
Four out of six of the Earth's great apes are now critically endangered, only one step away from going extinct, including the Eastern Gorilla, Western Gorilla, Bornean Orangutan and Sumatran Orangutan.
