Azerbaijan, Armenia Reach Cease-fire Deal for Breakaway Nagorno-Karabakh
Ethnic Armenians in Azerbaijan's breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh agreed to a Russian proposal for a ceasefire, 24 hours after Azerbaijan began an offensive to take control of the enclave that killed dozens and injured hundreds.
The separatist Armenian forces in Karabakh said that Azerbaijan had broken through their lines and seized a number of heights and strategic road junctions.
With the mediation of the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent stationed in Nagorno-Karabakh, an agreement was reached on the complete cessation of hostilities.
Nagorno-Karabakh is recognised internationally as part of Azerbaijan.

Justice Qazi Faez Isa 29th Chief Justice of Pakistan
Justice Qazi Faez Isa was sworn in as the 29th Chief Justice of Pakistan.
His term as Chief Justice in the Supreme Court will span 13 months, ending on October 25, 2024.
Justice Isa was sworn in by President Arif Alvi at a ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, in the presence of caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, ministers and other senior officials among others.
His appointment came at a time when Pakistan is facing serious constitutional, legal, and political challenges. His main test will be holding the general election within 90 days of the dissolution of Parliament on August 9. Another challenge is related to a case challenging the trial of civilians by military courts.

PM Modi Remains most Popular Global Leader
According to a survey by Morning Consult, Prime Minister Narendra Modi retained his position at the top of an approval ratings list of global leaders, with 76 per cent.
The US-based consultancy firm's 'Global Leader Approval Rating Tracker' claimed that 76 per cent of people approve of PM Narendra Modi's leadership, while 18 per cent disapprove of it and six per cent did not give any opinion.
Modi was followed by Switzerland President Alain Berset with 64 per cent approval rating and Mexico's Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador with 61 per cent approval rating.
US President Joe Biden has a 40 per cent approval, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had 37 per cent, his UK counterpart Rishi Sunak's rating stood at 27 per cent, and France President Emmanuel Macron at just 24 per cent.

India Jumps Seven Places in Digital Quality of Life Index Survey
When it comes to maintaining the overall digital quality of life, India still lags behind China globally, a report showed.
The Digital Quality of Life (DQL) Index by cyber-security company Surfshark is an annual study that ranks 121 countries by their digital wellbeing based on 5 core pillars -- internet quality, internet affordability, e-security, e-infrastructure and e-government.
The 5th DQL study ranks India 52nd in the world, up from 59th last year.
The increase is largely due to the country's surge in internet quality, for which it now ranks 16.
