KIYG 2025 Day 10: UP's Kadir Khan Breaks 400m Record

Uttar Pradesh's Kadir Khan broke the 400m meet record twice inside 24 hours as Khelo India Youth Games 2025 saw another spate of good performances at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna, Bihar.
In his maiden Khelo India Youth Games, Kadir Khan broke the 400m Games record on May 12 and improved his 47.67 seconds in the final. He clocked 47.34 seconds to relegate Bihar's Piyush Raj (47.43) to the silver. Karnataka's Sayed Sabeer (47.50 sec) won the bronze. Both Raj and Sabeer improved on the previous meet record.

Pakistan Appoint Seasoned Leader as White-Ball Head Coach

Mike Hesson was announced as the white-ball head coach of the men's team, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed.
Hesson stepped into the role previously held by Aqib Javed, who served as the interim head coach following Gary Kirsten's departure in October 2024. Javed will remain involved with Pakistan cricket, transitioning to the position of Director of High Performance.
At the international level, Hesson has previously led New Zealand and Kenya. Under his guidance, the Black Caps became a formidable force, reaching the final of the 2015 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.

Carlo Ancelotti is new Brazil National Football Team Head Coach

Carlo Ancelotti was appointed as the head coach of the Brazil national team. The Real Madrid coach replaced Dorival Júnior, who held the job for a tenure of 14 months before getting sacked in March after the team faced a 4-1 defeat at Argentina.

Kohli is one of the few Indian players to have scored centuries in Australia, England, South Africa, and New Zealand — showcasing his adaptability on all surfaces.

Shaun Tait New Bowling Coach of Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) appointed former Australia pacer Shaun Tait as the bowling coach for the senior men's team. Tait will join the team later this month and will be on a two-year contract running until the next Cricket World Cup in November 2027.
Tait took over from New Zealand's Andre Adams, whose tenure came to an end. Tait will work under head coach Phil Simmons for the Tigers.

Australia Announce Test Squad for WTC Final 2025

Flamboyant opener Sam Konstas and fully-fit all-rounder Cameron Green earned spots in Australia's 15-member squad for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final against South Africa. The Taliban regime in Afghanistan officially suspended the sport of chess, citing concerns over its compatibility with Islamic law. The tournament, set to take place from June 24 to July 25, 2027, will feature 32 teams competing across stadiums that previously hosted the 2014 Men's World Cup, ensuring world-class infrastructure and fan experience.

Archery World Cup 2025: India Bags Seven Medals

India finished their campaign at the Archery World Cup 2025, which was held in Shanghai with a total of seven medals, including bronze medals for Olympian Deepika Kumari and Parth Salunkhe in the individual recurve events.
Deepika clinched her 37th World Cup medal with a 7-3 win over South Korea's Kang Chae-young in the bronze medal match.

Mohammed Afsal Breaks 800m National Record at UAE Athletics Grand Prix

Indian athlete Mohammed Afsal broke the men's 800 m national record at the UAE Athletics Grand Prix 2025 in Dubai.
While competing at Dubai Police Club Stadium, Afsal with a time of 1 minute and 45.61 seconds (1:45.61), secured the second spot in a 10-man field.
The top spot was secured by Kenya's Nicholas Kiplagat (1:45.38) while South Africa's Christopher Swart finished third with 1:45.84.
Afsal's time was 0.04 seconds faster than the previous national record holder, Jinson Johnson, who clocked the timings of 1:45.65 during the 2018 National Inter-State Championships in Guwahati.
