NITI Aayog Charts Roadmap for Medium Enterprises as Future Growth Engines

In a significant policy move, NITI Aayog has released a report titled "Designing a Policy for Medium Enterprises", presenting a strategic blueprint for harnessing the growth potential of India's medium enterprises.
Though forming just 0.3% of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, these enterprises contribute nearly 40% of MSME exports, revealing immense untapped capacity.
The report proposes tailored policy interventions in finance, technology, skill development, infrastructure, and digital support to empower medium enterprises as drivers of innovation, employment, and export-led growth, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

India Post Launches 'Know Your DIGIPIN' and 'Know Your PIN Code' to Modernise Address Infrastructure

In a landmark initiative aimed at advancing India's geospatial and digital infrastructure, the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, launched two innovative web platforms—'Know Your DIGIPIN' and 'Know Your PIN Code'—on May 27, 2025.
These tools, aligned with the National Geospatial Policy 2022, aim to improve location precision, enhance last-mile delivery, and enable efficient public service delivery by modernising India's addressing systems.
These platforms are intended to support Digital India goals, especially by improving address accuracy, logistics efficiency, and emergency response capabilities across rural and urban India.
Developed by the Department of Posts in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad and NRSC-ISRO.
Part of the Department's Address-as-a-Service (AaaS) initiative.

The announcement was made public by Tripura West MP Biplab Kumar Deb on May 24, 2025.

Gujarat Achieves 100% Rail Electrification: A Step Towards Green Mobility

Gujarat has marked a significant achievement in India's green transportation mission by becoming the 24th State/Union Territory to attain 100% railway electrification.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the announcement during the inauguration of the Dahod Electric Locomotive Factory, a major industrial and eco-conscious initiative.
This milestone is a testament to India's ongoing efforts to modernise its rail network and transition to a sustainable, energy-efficient transportation infrastructure.
The announcement coincided with the inauguration of the Dahod Electric Locomotive Factory, which will produce India's first 9000 HP electric freight locomotives, in partnership with Siemens.
The milestone comes amid India's broader goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions in the railways by 2030.

In a major step to strengthen India's role in polar and ocean research, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated two world-class facilities — Sagar Bhavan and Polar Bhavan — at the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) in Goa. These hubs mark a significant milestone in India's scientific capabilities, especially in the context of growing climate concerns and global ocean geopolitics.

PM Modi to Launch Investors Summit Aimed at Boosting North East Growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Rising North East Investors Summit at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Organised by the Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) along with state governments and industry stakeholders, the two-day event aims to boost investment and economic growth across India's eight northeastern states.
The summit follows extensive pre-event activities, including international roadshows and policy dialogues, to showcase the region's untapped potential. Revamped OCI Portal Launched by Home Minister Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the revamped Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) portal on May 19, 2025, aiming to simplify and digitise the experience of overseas Indians.
The portal, featuring an updated user interface, promises enhanced security, functionality, and accessibility for over 5 million OCI cardholders and prospective applicants.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) launched the new OCI portal in response to growing feedback and the need to modernize the older system developed in 2013.
This move comes amid increasing demand from the Indian diaspora for seamless access to India-related services.

Konkan Railway Set to Merge with Indian Railways

The Maharashtra government has officially approved the long-pending merger of the Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) with Indian Railways, paving the way for the complete integration of this vital coastal rail route.
With this, all shareholder states—Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, and now Maharashtra—have backed the merger, ensuring that the scenic and strategically crucial Konkan route becomes a full-fledged part of India's national railway network.
The merger comes at a time when KRCL is facing financial difficulties and needs infrastructural and operational support. The Centre has agreed to Maharashtra's conditions, including retaining the name "Konkan Railway" and reimbursing the state's initial investment of Rs. 394 crore.
