President Inaugurates First Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show
President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the first Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show in India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida. The trade show is being held from September 21 to 25. Governor of state Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister of UP Yogi Adityanath and Industrial Minister Nand Gopal Nandi were also be present on the inaugural function.
Over 2000 exhibitors will showcase their products across a wide spectrum of sectors, including automobiles, handicrafts, healthcare, food processing, pharmaceuticals, dairy, electronics, and e-commerce.
State government departments and institutions, along with Mumbai Dabbawala, will conduct informative sessions on various business activities. Additionally, 108 new start-ups are also participating in the show.
India Wins Bid to Host 17th International Congress on Chemistry of Cement
India has won the bid to host the prestigious International Congress on the Chemistry of Cement (ICCC) at New Delhi in 2027.
India's leading research and academic institutes, National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCCBM) along with IIT Delhi successfully presented the India's bid before the Steering Committee members of the Conference during the 16th ICCC at Bangkok, Thailand. Besides India, other bidders were from Switzerland and UAE. The Indian bid was presented by L. P. Singh, Director General, NCCBM, S. K. Chaturvedi, Joint Director, NCCBM and Shashank Bishnoi, Professor (Civil Engg.), IIT Delhi.
The International Congress on the Chemistry of Cement is the largest and most prestigious event of its kind which reviews the progress of research in the area of Cement and Concrete. The congresses have been held generally at intervals of four to six years since 1918, providing a strong and fruitful link between the academic world and the cement industry. The 9th Congress was organized at New Delhi in 1992 by NCCBM and the present 16th ICCC was held at Bangkok, Thailand from 18-22 September 2023.

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the two-day conference of National Human Rights Institutions of the Asia Pacific region at Plenary Hall of Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The conference was being organized by the National Human Rights Commission, India, in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions. This included the Annual General Meeting (AGM) followed by the Biennial Conference, which celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights (UDHR) and 30 years of National Human Rights Institutions and the Paris Principles, with a sub-theme on the environment and climate change.

Old Parliament Building to be Called Samvidhan Sadan
As the proceedings of the Parliament shifts to the new building, the Prime Minister announced the new name of the old parliament building which will be called 'Samvidhan Sadan' (Constitution House). The old Parliament Building which was designed by British architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker and was completed in 1927 witnessed some of the great moments in Indian history like the passing of India's Constitution.

Old Parliament to Live on as Architectural Marvel
As the Indian Parliament got a new address, the old building, 96, will live on as the architectural wonder.
Inaugurated in colonial times by then Governor-General Lord Irwin on January 18, 1927, the old complex was designed by English architects Herbert Baker and Edwin Lutyens and can accommodate only 543 members in the Lok Sabha and 250 in the Rajya Sabha.
In contrast, the new Parliament, designed by architect Bimal Patel, can seat 888 members in the Lok Sabha and 300 in the Rajya Sabha.
The present building was never designed to accommodate a bicameral legislature for a full-fledged democracy, which necessitated a rethink.
Dharmendra Pradhan, Om Birla Launch 'Skills on Wheels' Initiative in Delhi
Union Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla launched the 'Skills on Wheels' initiative in Delhi.
The initiative is aimed at generating awareness around the government's skill development mission, opportunities and support system available for youths.
To promote digital literacy and digital skills in which India is developing global competency this scheme with the help of NSDC was launched. 'Skills on Wheels is a unique experiment.
This bus and experimental laboratory will go to the villages of Rajasthan. Later it will go to other parts of the country.

Unified Portal for Agricultural Statistics Launched
The Indian government introduced the Unified Portal for Agricultural Statistics (UPAg), an online platform developed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare. It is hailed as a significant leap forward in managing agricultural data. The UPAg Portal is intended to serve as a public resource, streamlining access to credible, granular, and objective data while reducing search costs and inefficiencies for users.
The UPAg Portal's core function is to generate crop estimates and integrate with other agriculture-related statistical systems. It aims to combat challenges like non-standardized and unverified data, ultimately supporting data-driven decision-making in India's agriculture sector.
The UPAg was launched by NITI Aayog member Ramesh Chand. He described it as an investment and a giant step in the realm of agriculture data management.
The platform is designed to generate crop estimates and integrate with other systems generating agriculture statistics such as price, trade, procurement, and stock.
The initiative aligns with e-governance principles by bringing smartness, transparency, and agility to India's agriculture sector.
Final Two-day Meet of G20 Framework Working Group Held in Raipur
The fourth and final meeting of the G20 Framework Working Group (FWG) under India's G20 Presidency will be held in Chhattisgarh's capital Raipur from September 18.
More than 65 delegates from G20 member and invitee countries and various international and regional organisations will participate in the two-day meeting at Mayfair resort in Nava Raipur.
Chandni Raina, advisor to the Union Finance Ministry and Sam Beckett, chief economic Adviser, HM Treasury, UK will chair the meeting, he said.
The FWG facilitates discussions on the latest global economic outlook and policy guidance on key macroeconomic issues.
IIT Kanpur Director Abhay Karandikar Appointed Science and Technology Secretary
Professor Abhay Karandikar, the director of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, was appointed as the secretary of department of Science and Technology (DST), taking over from Rajesh Gokhale, who held the additional charge along with his post of secretary department of biotechnology.
Karandikar was appointed to the post till the date of his attaining the age of 60 years.
Karandikar was appointed as director of his Alma Mater IIT Kanpur in 2018. He is an electrical engineer who is known for his contributions to the telecommunications sector of the country.
Rahul Navin Takes Charge as Director of Enforcement Directorate
IRS officer Rahul Navin was appointed as in-charge director of the Enforcement Directorate on the completion of tenure of the incumbent Sanjay Kumar Mishra.
According to an official order, Navin, a 1993-batch IRS officer, will hold the charge till the appointment of a regular director or until further orders. Navin is currently the ED's special director.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is a specialized law enforcement agency in India responsible for enforcing economic laws and regulations in the country. It is primarily tasked with investigating and prosecuting cases related to financial crimes, money laundering, foreign exchange violations, and economic offenses.
