Three grounds – including one with 85-yard boundaries across all sides – with 86 different types of outdoor and indoor ones in total, a state-of-the-art sports science medicine lab, and a fully-furnished gym facility are among the striking aspects of the BCCI's new Centre of Excellence on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
Spread over 40 acres, out of which 33 are utilised, the facility was inaugurated by BCCI president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah.

At the heart of the decision to demolish was Stadium Director Azmi Rahman revealed that in inspections carried out in 2020, it was concluded that the structure posed safety risks.
This decision was reached after extensive discussions with concerned parties. Shocking many, the stadium's demolition was a poignant moment for fans and the local community.

All-Rounder Shakib Al Hasan from Bangladesh Set to Retire from Tests and T20IS
Bangladesh's all time great cricketer Shakib Al Hasan is set to retire from the Tests and modern T20 format. Shakib made the decision public during a press conference ahead of the second India-Bangladesh Test in Kanpur.
He has already played his final T20I, and wishes to bid goodbye to the longer format in the home Tests against South Africa.
He also confirmed that the 2025 Champions Trophy will be his final ODI assignment for Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis created history on day one of the second Test against New Zealand in Galle, hitting a fifty - his ninth score of 50 or more since debut. Mendis is now the first player in history to score 50-plus scores in eight consecutive Tests since his debut.
Mendis made his debut in 2022, scoring 61 in his only innings against Australia before being dropped from the side. He made a comeback in 2024 and has been breathing fire ever since. Mendis overall has 873 runs in 13 innings of eight Tests and has scored 812 in 12 innings (seven Tests) since making his comeback earlier in 2024.

India begins AFC Asian Cup U-20 qualifiers with 4-1 win over Mongolia
India beat Mongolia 4-1 in the opening match of its AFC Under 20 Asian Cup qualifiers in Vientiane, Laos.
A brace from Manglenthang Kipgen and goals from Kelvin Singh and Korou Singh Thingujam gave India three points in Group G, which also has host Laos and Iran.
The AFC Asian Cup U-20 qualifiers will conclude on September 29.

Kamal Chawla Clinches Gold in World 6-Red Snooker
Indian veteran Kamal Chawla clinched his maiden IBSF World 6-Red title with a commanding 6-2 victory over Pakistan's Asjad Iqbal in the final of the IBSF World Men's 6-Red Snooker Championship in the capital city of Mongolia Ulaanbaatar. India also bagged three bronze medals through Malkeet Singh, Vidya Pillai and Keerthana Pandian.
Raphael Varane Announces Retirement
French defender Raphael Varane announced a shock retirement from football, only months after leaving Manchester United to join Como.
Varane left United at the end of 2023-24 season after his contract expired. He made the move to Como following their promotion to Serie A and signed an initial two-year deal with Cesc Fabregas' side.
Varane lifted the World Cup with France in 2018 before finishing runner-up in 2022, featuring in 93 games for the national side.
