Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog Presents India's Third Voluntary National Review (VNR)
Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog, Suman Bery presented India's Third Voluntary National Review (VNR) Report on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the Ministerial Segment of the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on SDGs convened by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations.
This VNR marks India's third submission to the HLPF, reaffirming the country's sustained commitment to the UN 2030 Agenda for SDGs.
Anchored in a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach, the preparation of India's VNR 2025 was steered by NITI Aayog through a structured and consultative process that drew on the participation of States, Union Territories, civil society, and development partners and private sector.

Kamal Haasan Makes Parliament Debut
Actor-politician Kamal Haasan made his parliamentary debut as he took oath as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha in Tamil.
Haasan was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha in June, with the support of the DMK-led alliance.
After his party, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), joined the DMK-led bloc ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Haasan was offered the choice between contesting a Lok Sabha seat or accepting a Rajya Sabha nomination. He chose the latter, even though his party extended full support to the DMK-Congress alliance during the general elections.

Narendra Modi Becomes Second Longest Serving PM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed 4,078 days in office, surpassing former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi's record of 4,077 consecutive days as Prime Minister of the country from January 24, 1966, to March 24, 1977. This means, a single and uninterrupted tenure as the Prime Minister of India.
With this milestone, PM Modi became the second longest consecutively serving Prime Minister in India's history, behind only the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
PM Modi is the first and only Prime Minister born after Independence, the longest-serving non-Congress PM.
