Gujarat Government launched the e-FIR service for the crimes like mobile or two-wheeler theft, a step towards digital governance. The e-governance initiatives and e-FIR system was launched as a part of "e-GujCop project". This move is aimed at resolving the mentioned incidents in faster manner.
Citizens can avail the e-FIR system of Gujarat Police by filing complaints or e-FIR in online mode.
Gujarat police will then contact the complainant within first 48 hours of registering an e-FIR and visit the place of incident.
Police will complete the investigation process within 21 days.
Following this, a status report will be submitted to the court.
The e-FIR system is currently offering 16 Police-related services in online mode. These services include registration of senior citizens, domestic help, tenants, or property registration, Police NOC and missing person report, etc.
The e-GujCop Project was launched on September 19, 2013. It is a unique system, integrating IT into working of the Home Department. The project helps in preventing the wrongdoers from committing crimes in society.
Flag Foundation of India Welcomes Amendment to Flag Code of India
President of Flag Foundation of India (FFI) Naveen Jindal welcomed the latest Amendment to the Flag Code of India 2002 after which a common citizen can hoist and unfurl the national flag 24 hours a day (day and night) at their homes and office locations.
Earlier, in 2009, the government had permitted that the tricolour can be flown day and night on giant flagpoles with proper illuminance and power backup.
Droupadi Murmu Takes Oath as 15th President
Droupadi Murmu took oath as the 15th President of India and became the first tribal woman to occupy the highest office in the country. Murmu is the first President of India who was born in independent India. She was administered oath by Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana at a ceremony that was held at Parliament's Central Hall in the presence of former President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi amongst others.
In her first address as President, Murmu said that her election to the top constitutional post proves that in India, the poor can not only dream but also fulfill those aspirations.

NCP Chief Sharad Pawar Dissolves All Departments
Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar dissolved all departments and cells of the party with immediate effect.
Patel, a former Union Minister, did not disclose the reason for the sudden move, which came three weeks after the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra.
The NCP was a key constituent of the Shiv Sena-led coalition government which fell apart following a rebellion by a section of MLAs of the Uddhav Thackeray-led saffron outfit.
Sanjay Agarwal to Chair the Committee Centre Established to Strengthen MSP System
A committee on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) was established by the government eight months after it made a similar commitment in exchange for repealing three divisive agriculture policies. Sanjay Agrawal, a former agricultural secretary, will preside over the committee. The government has made a provision for Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) to have three representatives on the committee, but the farm organisation has not yet provided any candidates for the group.
The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, had pledged to form a committee to address the farmers' demand for a legal guarantee on MSP when he announced the repeal of three farm regulations in November of last year.
The formation of a committee in this respect was announced in a gazette announcement by the Agriculture Ministry.
The panel will include senior member Naveen P Singh of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), agri-economists CSC Shekhar from the Indian Institute of Economic Development and Sukhpal Singh from IIM-Ahmedabad, and Niti Aayog member Ramesh Chand.
Bharat Bhushan Tyagi, a farmer who has won national awards, three members of SKM, and five members from other farmer organisations make up the committee's farmer representatives. These members are Gunwant Patil, Krishnaveer Choudhary, Pramod Kumar Choudhary, Guni Prakash, and Sayyed Pasha Patel.
IFFCO Chairman Dilip Sanghani and CNRI General Secretary Binod Anand are two members of the farmers' cooperative and organisation who are also on the committee. The committee also includes senior representatives from agricultural universities, five secretaries of the federal government, and the chief secretaries of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, and Odisha.
Running of ships in Lakshadweep Handed over to Shipping Corporation of India
The running and maintenance of ships of the Union Territory (UT) of Lakshadweep were been handed over to the Shipping Corporation of India to improve shipping operations.
Of the five ships in service for the people of Lakshadweep and connecting people between islands and Kochi, two are undergoing repairs.
The other three vessels are operating but with many unsold tickets which indicated the need for "optimal planning and utilisation of voyages of the ships considering the requirement of the local population.

India Innovation Index 2021: Karnataka, Manipur and Chandigarh Topped
Karnataka, Manipur and Chandigarh topped the third edition of NITI Aayog's India Innovation Index, which ranks the states and the union territories on their innovation performance. NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery released the India Innovation Index 2021 in presence of apex public policy think tank member Dr. V.K. Saraswat, CEO Parameswaran Iyer and senior adviser Neeraj Sinha.
The innovation index was based on the following 7 pillars: Human capital, Investment, Knowledge workers, Business environment, Safety and legal environment, Knowledge output and Knowledge diffusion.
Karnataka topped in the 'Major States' category and Manipur emerged as a winner in the 'North East and Hill States' category. Chandigarh was the top performer in the 'Union Territories and City States' category.
Karnataka's high score can be attributed to its peak performance in attracting FDI and a large number of venture capital deals. While Chandigarh topped the knowledge worker pillar, Delhi topped the business environment and investment pillars.
India's 15th President Draupadi Murmu
Daughter of a tribal family coming from a very ordinary house in Odisha, Draupadi Murmu was elected as the 15th President of India. The 2022 Indian Presidential Election was the 16th presidential election that was held in India on the 18th of July 2022. Murmu became India's first woman tribal President. She also became the second woman to hold the post after Pratibha Patil.
Murmu is the second person belonging to a scheduled tribe, to be nominated as a candidate for the post of President of India.
She served as the ninth Governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021.
As a member of the BJP, she was elected to the state assembly twice – in 2000 and in 2009 – from the Rairangpur seat.

SC Paves Way for OBC Reservation in Maharashtra Local Bodies Poll
More than a year after it read down Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation in local bodies, the Supreme Court paved the way for OBC reservation in Maharashtra local bodies poll, as it accepted the Banthia Commission report.
A bench headed by Justice A.M. Khanwilkar directed the State Election Commission and state authorities to ensure the election process in respect to each of those local bodies is immediately commenced.
The apex court also directed the Maharashtra SEC to notify the election programme for all local bodies within two weeks. Accepting reservations for OBCs, the top court said that it wants election to be conducted and these cannot be deferred indefinitely.
HP First State in Country to Connect all Registered Commercial Vehicles Equipped with VLTD with ERSS
Himachal Pradesh became the first state in the country to connect all registered commercial vehicles equipped with Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) with Emergency Response Support System (ERSS). Now these vehicles can be tracked anywhere in the country through VLTD. More than 9,423 vehicles were registered and linked with ERSS. Now, these vehicles would be monitored by both the police and the transport department.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur formally inaugurated the system at a program organised at Peterhof, in Shimla. He also introduced the facility of panic button for the safety of women and children in public vehicles.
National Standards for Civil Service Training Institutions
Union government unveiled the "National Standards for Civil Service Training Institutions (NSCSTI)", with the aim of raising their quality and capacity.
NSCSTI was launched at the headquarters of Capacity Building Commission.
With this, India became the world's first country to launch a unique model for creating a national level standard for civil service training institutions.
A web portal and approach paper for national standards were also unveiled, during the launch event.
Capacity Building Commission develops the national standards to - formulate a baseline for central training institutes on their current capacity, to elevate quality and capacity of training delivery and to harmonise standards for training.
These standards would also lay down aspirations for training institutions, to endeavour towards excellence.
Capacity Building Commission was created as a part of Mission Karmayogi for civil servants. The commission comprises of experts in related fields and global professionals. It will help in preparing and monitoring annual capacity building plans as well as audit human resources present in the government.

Rahul Shewale is Shiv Sena Leader in Lok Sabha
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla recognised Rahul Shewale as the floor leader of the party in the Lower House.
This came after 12 of the 19 Shiv Sena Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Lok Sabha including Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's son Shrikant Shinde, requested the Speaker for the change.
