Kiaan Secures Best Indian Finish at FIA Karting World Cup

  • Kiaan Shah was the highest-placed Indian competitor, finishing 13th in the junior category at the FIA Karting Arrive & Drive World Cup held in Selangor, Malaysia.
  • With four Indians in the fray among 60 drivers, Kiaan contended with a field full of national champions and dealt with other vehicles barging into him, as well as some technical issues with his vehicle.
  • The eventual podium featured the United States' Troy Ferguson in top spot after Japan's Simba Motoda – who passed the chequered flag first – was handed a five-second penalty. Tommy Hart finished second ahead of Tomasz Cichoracki.

Dhanush Wins Air Rifle Gold in Deaflympics

  • Dhanush Srikanth opened the account for India with a gold medal in the men's air rifle event at the Deaflympics in Tokyo.
  • India's Mohammed Murtaza Vania finished with a final score of 250.1 and took the silver medal while Korea's Baek Seunghak settled for bronze with a score of 223.6.
  • Apart from his gold medal, Srikanth also set a new Deaf Final World Record of 252.2.

ISSF World C'ship: Esha Singh Clinches Bronze in Women's 25m Pistol Event

  • Esha Singh secured a bronze medal in the women's 25m Pistol Olympic event at the Olympic Shooting Range in Cairo, Egypt, marking her first individual world championship medal. The Indian shooter scored 30 in the final, finishing behind China's Yao Qianxun with silver (38 points) and Korea's Olympic Champion Yang Jiin who won gold (40 points).
  • India concluded its campaign at the ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol Cairo 2025 with a historic medal haul in Olympic events, securing one gold, four silver, and two bronze medals. Overall, India ranked third with three gold, five silver, and four bronze medals, behind leaders China with 10 gold and second-placed Korea with six gold medals.

Carlos Alcaraz Lifts Trophy for Year-end No. 1 Player

  • Carlos Alcaraz lifted the trophy for the year-end No. 1 tennis player.
  • After a scintillating tussle with Jannik Sinner, Alcaraz secured the ranking by sealing a sweep of his three group-stage matches at the ATP Finals.

Shane Watson joins Kolkata Knight Riders as assistant coach for IPL 2026

  • Former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson was appointed assistant coach of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the IPL 2026 season, joining a team management that includes Abhishek Nayar (head coach) and Dwayne Bravo (mentor).
  • Watson and former New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee are new additions to the KKR coaching staff, which has been overhauled after the team finished seventh in IPL 2025.

India Shines with Two Gold at Asian Archery Championships

  • India secured two gold medals and one silver at the Asian Archery Championships in Dhaka in compound archery, with the women's team and mixed team clinching victories while the men's team finished second.
  • The women's team comprising Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Deepshikha, and Prithika Pradeep claimed gold by defeating Korea 236-234.
  • In the mixed team event, Abhishek Verma and Deepshikha earned India's second gold by overcoming Bangladesh 153-151.

Shooting World Championships: Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Esha Singh-Samrat Rana Miss Gold

  • It was a day of missed opportunities for the Indian shooters. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar settled for the silver medal, missing gold by a margin of just 0.2 point in three-position event, while the pair of Samrat Rana and Esha Singh also lost gold in the 10m air pistol mixed event after leading for a while in the ISSF World Championships in Cairo.
  • Aishwary, 24, who was in peak form, first scored a World Record equalling qualifying score of 597 (kneeling 200/200, prone 200/200, standing 197/200) and later shot 466.9 in the final. He finished behind China's reigning Olympics champion Yukun Liu, who shot 467.1 for gold.
  • Samrat went into another final, with Esha. The duo top-scored with a combined score of 586 (293 + 293) in the qualifications.
  • In the final, the Indian duo started by winning the first two points, but lost the lead to the Chinese pair of Yao Qianxun and Hu Kai. The Chinese pair kept winning and made it 6-2, when Samrat and Esha made a superb comeback with seven consecutive points to go ahead 9-6.

Ajinkya Naik Panel Sweeps MCA Election

  • The Ajinkya Naik panel swept the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) elections, with Naik himself re-elected as president. He was elected unopposed for the second consecutive term, as members of his panel secured 12 of the 16 positions.
  • Among others elected were Unmesh Khanvilkar, who was chosen as secretary, while Jitendra Awhad became vice-president. Khanvilkar defeated Shahalam Shaikh, and Awhad beat Navin Shetty. Nilesh Bhosle overcame Gaurav Payyade and became the joint secretary, and Arman Mallick emerged victorious over Surendra Shewale and took charge as treasurer.
