Astronomers have discovered a near-record breaking supermassive black hole, weighing 17 billion suns, in the center of a galaxy in a sparsely populated area of the universe.
This discovery may be an indication that these monster objects may be more in number.
Till now, the biggest supermassive black holes, that are roughly 10 billion times the mass of our sun.
As per NASA, the current record holder tips the scale at 21 billion suns and resides in the crowded Coma galaxy cluster that consists of over 1,000 galaxies.

World's Smallest Diode
A team of researchers has created the world's smallest diode using single molecule of DNA.
The research, paving way for molecular electronics has demonstrated that nanoscale electronic components can be made from single DNA molecules.
This is a promising advance in the search for a replacement for the silicon chip.
The finding may eventually lead to smaller, more powerful and more advanced electronic devices.

Lightweight 3D Printing Pen
Researchers have designed a small, lightweight 3D printing pen that surgeons can hold with their hand and draw human stem cells just when they need it, during surgery.
The pen delivers a cell survival rate in excess of 97 percent.
The new device could allow the surgeon unprecedented control in treating defects by filling them with bespoke scaffolds.
The device was developed in collaboration with Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for Electromaterials Science (ACES) and researchers and orthopaedic surgeons at St. Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne.

Transparent Wood to Brighten Homes
Scientists have developed transparent wood that could be used in building materials and could help home and building owners save money on their artificial lighting costs.
Optically transparent wood with transmittance as high as 85 percent and haze of 71 percent was obtained using a delignified nanoporous wood template.
Recent work on making transparent paper from wood has led to the potential for making similar but stronger materials.

Giant Gas Planet Discovered
Researchers have detected what appears to be a Saturn-like planet residing near the Milky Way galaxy\'s bulge.
The newly discovered exoplanet has a mass somewhere between Saturn and Jupiter and orbits a star with half the mass of the sun.
