First Phase of World's Largest Solar Plant

Morocco’s king switched on the first phase of a concentrated solar power plant that will become the world’s largest when completed.
The power station on the edge of the Saharan desert will be the size of the country’s capital city by the time it is finished in 2018, and provide electricity for 1.1 million people.
Noor 1, the first section at the town of Ouarzazate, provides 160 megawatts (MW) of the ultimate 580MW capacity, helping Morocco to save hundreds of thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions per year.
The North African country plans to generate 42% of its energy from renewables by 2020.

A new study confirms that global temperature does not rise or fall chaotically in the long run.
The new study by researchers reveals that unless pushed by outside forces, temperatures should remain stable.
The new evidence may finally help put the chill on skeptics' belief that long-term global warming occurs in an unpredictable manner, independently of external drivers such as human impacts.

Arunachal Rivers Free from Pollution

According to an investigation carried out by the Central Ground Water Board and Central Water Commission, the major rivers of Arunachal Pradesh are free from pollution and the ground water is of excellent quality with all the parameters within permissible limits.
This situation, however, may change in the near future with rapid urbanisation and increase in population.

Researchers Find Rare Dinosaur

A team of researchers has identified and named an 83 million-year-old dinosaur species that originated in the eastern United States, broadly referred to as Appalachia.
As per the researchers, the skeletal remains of the species were found by a team of amateur fossil enthusiasts alongside a creek in Montgomery county, in the US state of Alabama in marine sediment, is the most complete, primitive duck-billed dinosaur ever to be discovered in the eastern US.
The new dinosaur was named Eotrachodon Orientalis, which means dawn rough tooth from the east.
The name is homage to "Trachodon" -- the first duck-billed dinosaur named in 1856.

World's Oceans Warming at Faster Rate

As per a new study, global warming is heating up the world's oceans at a faster rate over the last two decades as compared to the preceding 130 years.
Scientists have found that half of the global ocean heat content increase since 1865 has occurred over the past two decades.
In recent decades the ocean has continued to warm substantially, and with time the warming signal is reaching deeper into the ocean.
Changes in ocean heat storage are important because the ocean absorbs more than 90 percent of the Earth's excess heat increase that is associated with global warming.
