Justice D.Y. Chandrachud Takes Oath as 50th Chief Justice of India
Justice D. Y. Chandrachud , the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court, was sworn in as the 50th Chief Justice of India.
President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Justice Chandrachud at a brief ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, outgoing CJI U.U. Lalit, sitting and former judges of the Supreme Court, Union Ministers, senior lawyers and various other dignitaries from the field of law and politics.
Justice Chandrachud succeeded Justice U.U. Lalit who retired on November 8 after a 74-day stint. Justice Lalit had recommended Justice Chandrachud's name as his successor last month.
Javadekar, C. M. Ramesh Appointed Chairpersons of Rajya Sabha's Ethics Panel
Former Union Minister Prakash Javadekar and BJP MP C. M. Ramesh were appointed as chairpersons of Rajya Sabha's ethics and housing committees, respectively.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar reconstituted several committees and appointed their chairpersons, according to notifications issued by the Secretariat of the Upper House.
BJD MP Sujeet Kumar was appointed as chairperson of Rajya Sabha's petitions committee, and DMK MP M. Thambidurai of panel on government assurances while BJP MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa will chair the parliamentary panel on papers laid on the table.
BJP's chief whip in the Rajya Sabha Laxmikant Bajpayee will chair the Committee on Subordinate Legislation.
PM Modi Unveils Logo, Theme and Website of India's G20 Presidency
Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled India's logo, theme and website for its presidency of the G20, which reflects the country's message and overarching priorities to the world. The G20 logo, created with the four colours of India's national flag, comprises of earth sitting atop a lotus. The seven petals in the logo signify the seven seas and the coming together of seven continents at G20 India 2023. The earth reflects India's pro-planet approach to life and from this, it derives the theme of G20 India 2023 – Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: One Earth, One Family, One Future.
"India's G20 presidency is coming at a time of crisis and chaos in the world. The world is going through the aftereffects of disruptive once-in-a-century pandemic, conflicts and lot of economic uncertainty," he said. The symbol of lotus in the G20 logo is a representation of hope in these times.

Aadhaar Mitra', the New Chatbot from UIDAI
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) unveiled the new AI/ML chatbot "Aadhaar Mitra" to help residents use the services effectively.
It is a chat platform called UIDAI Chatbot that provides quick and automatic responses about Aadhaar and related features. It is accessible at the main page of the UIDAI website and resident portal. Using the blue "Ask Aadhaar" icon, users can begin chatting with the chatbot.
Aadhaar Chatbot is well trained on all Aadhaar related topics, features and services. Resident can simply type the query in chatbot and get the desired answers immediately.
The chatbot is available in Hindi and English. It also provides the feature of watching related videos on some topics for educating the users.
Ujjain to Get World's First Vedic Clock
Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain, the city of Mahakal will soon boast the world's first Vedic clock which will be synced with the position of the Sun. After laying the foundation stone at the 300-year-old Jiwaji Observatory in Ujjain, the state Higher Education Minister Mohan Yadav said that through this project, people will become familiar with the Vedic time calculation. The state government has allocated Rs 1.62 crore for this mega project as it is working to restore the ancient glory of Ujjain. The minister said the (Vikramaditya) Vedic clock will be divided into 24 muhurats (hours).
This clock will be fixed on the basis of the principles of Vedic time calculation. Changes in the sunrise and sunset at different times in different places in the country and the world will also be synchronised.
Giriraj Singh Unveils Panchayati Raj's Rural Development Agenda Booklet
Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Giriraj Singh unveiled the booklet 'Agenda for Members of Panchayati Raj Institutions for Rural Development'. The 'Agenda for Members of Panchayati Raj Institutions for Rural Development" booklet will provide information about all the schemes such as MGNREGA, Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojna- National Rural Livelihood Mission, PM Awas Yojna- Grameen, PM Gram Sadak Yojna, etc. will be available to the representative and the general public.
The 'Agenda for Members of Panchayati Raj Institutions for Rural Development' book will be brought in regional languages soon.
The Minister said that the booklet will be made available at each Gram Panchayat in the country.
The book can form the basis for an informed discussion on the different schemes of the Ministry of Rural Development among members of the Gram Panchayats.
This book will help everyone including the elected members of Gram Panchayats in understanding the schemes and their eligibility, which will further strengthen transparency and public participation.
CM Yogi Adityanath Unveils Statue of Former PM Chandra Shekhar in Ballia
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled the statue of former Prime Minister late Chandra Shekhar in Ballia district and inaugurated and laid foundation stones of development projects worth Rs. 80 crore.
CM Yogi said that very little of Ballia's potential has been exploited so far, urging Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) to come forward to take the agricultural products of the district to the international market.
Paying his tributes to former PM Chandra Shekhar, CM Yogi said, "He was a 'Jan Nayak', a leader in independent India, who rose above party lines to do value-based politics and was popular not only within India but also abroad, including Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh."

MoCA to Rename Chandigarh Airport as Shaheed Bhagat Singh Airport
Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) issued the notification renaming the Chandigarh International Airport as Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport.
On September 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Chandigarh airport will be renamed after Bhagat Singh as a tribute to the freedom fighter.
The 115th birth anniversary of the freedom fighter was celebrated on September 28. On the same day, it was announced that the Chandigarh airport has been renamed after Bhagat Singh.

Prof. Kishor Basa was appointed as the chairman of National Monuments Authority (NMA), informed the Ministry of Culture India.
According to reports, Basa is currently serving as Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University in Baripada. Besides, he has also served as Vice Chancellor of Fakir Mohan University in Balasore.
Basa held various administrative posts in various prestigious educational institutions and educational committees of Odisha.
