UAE's Sultan Al Neyadi to be the First Arab Astronaut to Spend Six Months on ISS

Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi would become the first Arab astronaut to be part of a long-term mission to the International Space Station (ISS) after he embarks on SpaceX's Crew-6 mission scheduled for early 2023. During the mission, he would conduct scientific experiments as part of the UAE (United Arab Emirates) Astronaut Programme. According to the Emirates News Agency, this makes the UAE the 11th country in the world to participate in a long-term space mission.
Al Neyadi will embark on the mission as part of the agreement signed between Texas-based Axiom Space and the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre. But Al Neyadi is not the first Emirati to go aboard the International Space Station: that honour goes to Hazza Al Mansoori, who lived on the space station for eight days in 2019. Al Neyadi is expected to be onboard the ISS till September 2023.

Russia to Quit International Space Station 'after 2024'

Russia decided to quit the International Space Station "after 2024", the newly-appointed chief of Moscow's space agency told President Vladimir Putin.
The decision came weeks after the US criticised Russian astronauts for using the Space Station to push political narratives after cosmonauts displayed flags of Ukrainian areas controlled by Russian forces.
Russia and the United States have worked side by side on the ISS, which has been in orbit since 1998.
The space station is jointly run by the space agencies of Russia, the U.S., Europe, Japan and Canada.

Scientists Discover Places on the Moon where it's always 'Sweater Weather'

A team led by planetary scientists has discovered shady locations within pits on the moon that always hover around a comfortable 63 degrees Fahrenheit. The pits, and caves to which they may lead, would make safer, more thermally stable base camps for lunar exploration and long-term habitation than the rest of the moon's surface, which heats up to 260 degrees during the day and drops to 280 degrees below zero at night.

Scientists Discover Deadly Pool at Bottom of Ocean that Kills anything that Swims into it

Scientists from the University of Miami discovered a lethal pool at the bottom of the Red Sea that kills anything that swims into it. As per research, the brine pool was uncovered 1.7 kilometres beneath the surface using a remotely operated underwater vehicle.
The researchers explained that a brine pool is a depression in the seafloor that is filled with highly concentrated salt water and other chemical elements which is saltier than the surrounding ocean. These underwater pools can stun or kill animals and even pickle them alive.

China Successfully Launches First Lab Module for its Space Station

China successfully launched the first lab module of its under-construction space station.
The Long March-5B Y3 carrier rocket, carrying Wentian, blasted off from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site on the coast of the southern island province of Hainan.
The new module would function both as a backup of the core module and as a powerful scientific experiment platform in the Tiangong space station currently being built by the country.

Ookla's Speedtest Global Index June 2022: India Ranks 118

India's rankings fell by three spots in the median mobile speeds, according to Ookla's Speedtest Global Index. India was at number 115th spot in May 2022, but it dropped down to 118th in June. In April and May, India's mobile broadband speeds had improved. But the month of June 2022, saw the median mobile download speeds in India decrease from 14.28 Mbps in May to 14.00 Mbps, according to the data.
India's median download speeds on fixed broadband marked an improvement at 48.11 Mbps in June 2022, from 47.86 Mbps in the previous month. This pushed the country's global ranking three notches higher, to 72nd spot in June 2022 from 75th in May 2022.
According to the June Speedtest Global Index:
Norway continues to be at the No.1 spot for overall global median mobile speeds, while Chile has reclaimed its No.1 position from Singapore, which landed at the No.2 spot for overall global fixed broadband speeds.

'Human Spaceflight Expo' at Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium

Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO Chairman S. Somnath along with other senior scientists inaugurated the Human Space Flight Expo at Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium in Bengaluru to commemorate the Azadi ki Amrit Mahotsav.
Along with an interactive model of Gaganyaan, there were other scaled models of launch vehicles, satellites, space suits and Indian space station. The expo also offered a dome show, lectures by eminent personalities, display of ISRO models, technologies for human space flight missions, interactive games, science activities and competitions for students.
