Anurag Singh Thakur Inaugurated First-ever Khelo India Para Games 2023

Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur inaugurated the Khelo India Para Games 2023 in New Delhi.
More than 1400 players from states, Union Territories and Services Sports Board are participating in these Games between December 10 and 17 at three venues in New Delhi.
The New Delhi meet is the 12th event under the Khelo India umbrella. So far, five Khelo India Youth Games, three Khelo India University Games and three Khelo India Winter Games have been successfully conducted.
Khelo India Para Games 2023 sports list: Para athletics, Para shooting, Para archery, Para football, Para badminton, Para table tennis and Para weightlifting (powerlifting).
Three different Sports Authority of India (SAI) facilities – the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Shooting Range in Tughlakabad and the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium - are hosting the different events.

Italy Wins Admiral's Cup 2023 Held at Indian Naval Academy

The 12th edition of 'Admiral's Cup' Sailing Regatta concluded on 08 Dec 23 with a glittering closing ceremony at Ettikulam Beach at Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, Kerala. Team Italy represented by Midshipman Avallone Antonio & Midshipman Creati Carlo Leonardo won the Admiral's Cup 23. Team India represented by Midshipman PPK Reddy and Cadet GY Reddy was the runners-up and team United Kingdom & Germany represented by Officer Cadet Lucy Bell and Midshipman Aaron Middleton from United Kingdom and Cadet Beckman Carl & Cadet Hinz Anton from Germany shared the third position. Seaman Gorkunov Petr from Russia stood first in the individual position in the men's category followed by Midshipman Avallone Antonio from Italy and Midshipman PPK Reddy from India at second and third positions respectively. Officer Cadet Lucy Bell from United Kingdom stood first in the individual position in women's category followed by Cadet Sangla Elma Salsadila from Indonesia and Cadet Jhanvi Singh from India at second and third positions respectively.

India Beat USA 3-2 to Finish 9th at Junior Women's Hockey World Cup

Goalkeeper Madhuri Kindo shone under the bar as India displayed remarkable resilience and eked out a 3-2 win over USA and finished ninth at the Junior Women's hockey World Cup in Chile.
The 2023 Women's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup was the tenth edition of the Women's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup, the biennial women's under–21 field hockey world championship organised by the International Hockey Federation. It was held in Santiago, Chile from November 29 to December 10, 2023.
Netherlands beat Argentina and won the Junior Women's Hockey World Cup.

Former India Goalkeeper Subrata Paul Retires

Goalkeeper Subrata Paul retired from football, bringing down curtains on a career spanning 16 years.
Paul, who made his debut against Lebanon in the World Cup qualifiers in 2007, had 65 appearances for India. He earned the sobriquet "Spiderman" for his heroics against South Korea in the 2011 Asian Cup. Paul made more than 35 saves in the tournament. Paul captained the Indian team under coach Stephen Constantine in the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.
At the club level, he represented Mohun Bagan and East Bengal.

Figure Skating: Teenager Ilia Malinin Tops Men's Short Program at ISU Grand Prix Final

American teenager Ilia Malinin came first in the men's short programme at the Grand Prix Final in Beijing, beating reigning Japanese world champion Shoma Uno. Malinin scored 106.9, just 0.88 points above second-place Uno, which put him in the lead for the men's competition.

ITF Kalaburagi Open 2023: Ramkumar Ramanathan Clinches his Third Title

India's Ramkumar Ramanathan defeated Austrian David Pichler in straight sets in the men's singles final and secured his third ITF title by winning the Kalaburagi Open in Kalaburagi, Karnataka.
Ramkumar, who won the ITF Mumbai Open last week, took just 64 minutes to quell Pichler's challenge 6-2, 6-1 at the Chandrashekhar Patil Stadium.
Ramkumar, a member of the Indian Davis Cup team, pocketed the winner's cheque of USD 3200 and 25 precious ATP points.

Men's Volleyball Club World Championship in Bengaluru

The men's Volleyball Club World Championship began in Bengaluru as the city became the first in India to host the prestigious tournament.
The five-day tournament at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium will see six teams compete for the top honours.
Prime Volleyball League Season 2 champions Ahmedabad Defenders is the first Indian team to compete at the club showpiece.
With 10 high octane matches set to unfold between December 6-10, 2023, this will be India's first bow at the highest level as the Ahmedabad Defenders face up against the finest from across the world including, reigning champions, Sir Safety Susa Perugia from Italy, the formidable Brazilian duo of Sada Cruzeiro Volei and Itambe Minas, Japan's Suntory Sunbirds, and Turkey's Halkbank Spor Kulubu.
