Hsieh Su-wei of Taiwan and Poland's Jan Zielinski won the Australian Open mixed doubles title after beating Desirae Krawczyk of the United States and Neal Skupski of Britain 6-7 (5), 6-4, 11-9.

Pat Cummins Cricketer of the Year for 2023
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the winners of the annual awards for 2023 as Australian skipper Pat Cummins received the top honour for Cricketer of the Year. Cummins, who led Australia to the ICC ODI World Cup and the World Test Championship (WTC) triumph.
Virat's consolation came in the form of ICC ODI Player of the Year where he had a special year, helping India to the runners-up crown in the World Cup.
India's Suryakumar Yadav was named ICC T20 Player of the Year for his memorable performance with the bat. The Mumbai Indians player won the prize for the second consecutive year having also won the top honour in 2022 when India were knocked out in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup.
Tanmay Agarwal Scores Fastest First Class Triple Hundred
Hyderabad's Tanmay Agarwal became the player to hit the fastest triple hundred in first class cricket when he scored 300 in a Ranji Trophy match against Arunachal Pradesh.
He took 147 deliveries to achieve that feat and was still unbeaten at Stumps on 323 off 160 balls in an innings peppered with 33 fours and 21 sixes.
The player shattered a 39-year-old record held by Indian legend Ravi Shastri along the way by also scoring the fastest double hundred in first class cricket in 119 deliveries.

Tamil Nadu: Stalin Inaugurates Jallikattu Stadium
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin inaugurated a jallikattu stadium in Madurai where the sport is most famous.
Touted to be the first of its kind, the three-tiered stadium is spread across 65 acres. Built at a cost of Rs. 63 crore, it has a seating capacity of 5,000. The stadium also has an air-conditioned space that can seat 50 people. A veterinary dispensary and an emergency centre are set up for treatment of injured bulls and tamers. Ten emergency vehicles would be stationed outside the stadium during the competitions.
This is the first such stadium for jallikattu in the world," Stalin said at the event.
Stalin named the stadium at Keelakarai village after his father and five time chief minister Late M. Karunanidhi as the 'Kalaignar Centenary Eru Thazuvuthal Arangam' and unveiled his statue.
Haryana Tops in 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team, at Khelo India Games
At the Khelo India Games, Haryana won the gold medal and Rajasthan silver in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. Tamil Nadu clinched bronze.
In the rhythmic gymnastics Hoop event, Maharashtra's Kimaya Karle and Sanyukta Kale took first and second places, while Muskan Rana from J&K took the third place. In the rhythmic gymnastics Ball event, Sanyukta Kale took the first place, Muskan Rana took the second place and Life Adlakha from Haryana took third place. In the Club event of the same sport, Muskan Rana ended up at the top of the podium. Parina Madanpotra from Maharashtra stood second and Life Adlakha from Haryana came third.

Indian table tennis player Sreeja Akula achieved a significant milestone in her career by securing her maiden international title at the WTT Feeder Corpus Christi 2024 in Texas, USA.
Sreeja Akula faced a formidable opponent in the final, going up against world No. 46 Lily Zhang of the USA, a three-time Olympian. Sreeja defeated Lily Zhang 3-0 (11-6, 18-16, 11-5) to claim the top spot on the podium.
Rohan Bopanna Becomes Oldest Player to Reach Men's Doubles No 1
Rohan Bopanna clinched the No 1 men's doubles ranking with victory alongside Matt Ebden in the Australian Open quarter-finals, becoming the oldest player to do so at 43.
The Indian-Australian pair beat Argentine duo Máximo González and Andrés Molteni 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) in the quarter-finals at Melbourne Park.
The previous oldest men's doubles No 1, Mike Bryan, was 41 years and 76 days when his stint ended in 2019, according to the International Tennis Federation.

Madrid to Host Spanish F1 GP from 2026
Madrid is set to become the new host city for the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix starting from 2026. India Open 2024: China's Shi Yu Qi Wins Men's Singles Title
It was the second time lucky for China's Shi Yu Qi as he got the better of Hong Kong's Lee Cheuk Yiu in straits sets 23-21 and 21-17 and won the men's singles title at India Open 2024 at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall in New Delhi.
The India Open is an annual badminton event which has been held in India since 2008 and is a BWF World Tour Super 750 international badminton tournament. Its first three editions were designated as Grand Prix Gold events. In 2011, it was upgraded to the BWF Superseries tournament. Since then until 2019, it was held annually at the Siri Fort Sports Complex, New Delhi.
