Haryana Launches App to Track Movement of Sand, Mining Vehicles

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar launched a Vehicle Movement Tracking System (VMTS) mobile app to track the vehicles carrying sand and other mining material. The app will be used at different checkpoints in all the districts of Haryana. All vehicle details including vehicle type, vehicle number, moving from, moving to, and driver details will be stored in it. The non-registered individual will not be permitted to enter the zone of sand mining. This App was designed and developed in-house by National Informatics Centre, Haryana.
If the vehicle is to move between source and destination checkpoints, then officials can mark the vehicle exit from the originating check post as an interim exit and at the destination checkpoint it will be marked as a final exit.

Supreme Court Gets 2 New Judges, Set to Regain Full Strength of 34

The Union government notified the appointment of Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia, the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court, and Justice Jamshed Burjor Pardiwala, a judge of the Gujarat High Court, as judges of the Supreme Court. The Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India N. V. Ramana had recommended their names for appointment. The other members of the Collegium are Justices U. U. Lalit, A. M. Khanwilkar, D. Y. Chandrachud and L. Nageswara Rao.
At present, the Supreme Court has a strength of 32 judges as against a sanctioned strength of 34 judges. The fresh appointments will help regain the 34-judge strength.
Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia hails from Madanpur, a remote village located in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. He had his early education in Dehradun and Allahabad and is an alumni of Sainik School, Lucknow. He did his graduation and law from the University of Allahabad.
Justice Pardiwala was born in Mumbai and did his schooling in St Joseph Convent School in his home town Valsad (south Gujarat). He graduated from the JP Arts College, Valsad, and secured the law degree from the KM Mulji Law College, Valsad in 1988.

Union Minister Bhagwanth Khuba Launches Newly Manufactured NPK Grade of RCF in Mumbai

Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers & New and Renewable Energy, Bhagwanth Khuba, visited RCF Trombay Unit at Chembur, Mumbai and launched the newly manufactured NPK grade of Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (RCF).
The Minister appreciated the excellent performance of RCF during 2021-2022 and congratulated all the employees for the stellar work done during the difficult phase of Corona Pandemic. The Minister also launched the newly developed RCF R&D product VIPULA 10:10:10 on the occasion. Suphala 10:26:26 is a balanced fertilizer and is suitable to be used for all crops.

Uttar Pradesh Govt. to Provide Free wi-fi Facility for People within 50 Meters of Village Secreta...

Uttar Pradesh government will provide free wi-fi facility at more than 58 thousand places in the villages of the state. This internet facility will be available for the people within 50 meters of the Gram Sachivalaya (village secretariat) building which is being built in every Gram Panchayat of the state. In order to make every village a smart village, high-speed internet connectivity will be provided to the village secretariats and free high-speed Wi-Fi internet facility will be provided to the villagers within a radius of 50 meters of the village secretariat building. The process of establishment of village secretariats in 58,189 gram panchayats of the state is going on continuously.
The government informed that the Gram Panchayat office was being established in the name of 'Gram Sachivalaya'. Arrangements are also being made to ensure that all the documents/records/documents required by the villagers can be obtained through Panchayat Assistant/Common Service Center (CSC) in the village secretariat.

Manipur: Poumai Naga Tribe Declares Poumai Inhabited Areas to be Drug-Free Zone

The Poumai tribe in Manipur declared that Poumai inhabited areas will be a Drug-Free Zone supporting the State government's War on Drug campaign. A huge delegation of the Poumai tribe by MLA and leaders of the students union and civil organization met Chief Minister N. Biren Singh at Imphal and conveyed the resolution of Drug-Free Zone in Poumai inhabited areas of the State. They also informed the Chief Minister that the poppy plantation will not be allowed in the Poumai areas.
The Chief Minister welcomed the resolution of Poumai Naga tribe and affirmed that the State government will not tolerate deforestation and poppy plantation in hill districts in Manipur. The leaders of Paumai tribe also conveyed that the community will join the fight against drug menace in the State.

India's First Regional Rapid Transit System Train-set to be Handed over to NCRTC at Savli in Gujarat

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) received India's first semi-high speed train set for Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) at Alstom's Savli plan in Gujarat. The RRTS train sets are being manufactured under Make in India initiative and are capable of running at a top speed of 180 kilometres per hour. The train set will be brought to Duhai Depot in Uttar Pradesh and will be maintained and operated from there. The fully air-conditioned train boasts of several modern commuter-centric features including cushioned seating, laptop-mobile charging, luggage racks and dynamic route-map. NCRTC is the implementing agency of India's first RRTS corridor between Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut.
The construction work on the 82-kilometre-long corridor is in full swing. The 17 km long priority section between Sahibabad and Duhai is targeted to be commissioned by 2023 and the full corridor will be fully operational by 2025.

J&K Delimitation Commission Issues Final Notification

Finalising its order for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Delimitation Commission Thursday recommended seven additional constituencies — six for Jammu and one for Kashmir — taking the total number of seats in the UT to 90 from 83 earlier. This will increase the number of seats in the Jammu Division to 43 from 37 seats earlier, and that in the Kashmir Valley to 47 from 46 earlier.
Three other important takeaways from the order of the delimitation panel, chaired by retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai, are: i) reorganisation of the Parliamentary constituencies such that the five Lok Sabha seats now are made up of exactly 18 Assembly constituencies each, taking the total number to 90, ii) reservation of nine Assembly seats for Scheduled Tribes – six in Jammu and three in Kashmir, and iii) removal of the regional distinction between Jammu and Kashmir and treating it as one, as is reflected in the combining of Anantnag region in Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu to carve out Anantnag-Rajouri as a Parliamentary constituency.
With the final order now notified, all eyes will be on the EC and the Union government regarding the timing of Assembly elections. Though mainstream parties in the Valley have criticised the report, it is likely that this will make space for political engagement in the UT.

PM Narendra Modi Calls for Reducing 'Slavery to Foreign Goods'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Jain International Trade Organisation`s `JITO Connect 2022 business meet virtually and called for reducing 'slavery to foreign goods' even as Indians celebrate 75 years of Independence.
At the inaugural ceremony, PM Modi said that the stress should be on the 'vocal for local' mantra and reducing the use of foreign goods.
The Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) is a global organisation connecting Jains worldwide. JITO Connect is an endeavour to help the industry by providing an avenue for mutual networking and personal interactions.
JITO Connect 2022 was a three-day event organised in Pune from May 6-8 and encompassed multiple sessions on diverse issues relating to business and economy.

Justice Satyen Vaidya Sworn in as Permanent Judge of Himachal Pradesh High Court

Justice Satyen Vaidya was sworn in as the permanent Judge of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh in a ceremony at Raj Bhawan in Shimla.
Justice Vaidya was administered the oath of office by Himachal Pradesh Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar in the presence of CM Jai Ram Thakur & Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh HC Mohammad Rafiq.
The ceremony took place at the Darbar Hall of the Raj Bhawan, where chief secretary Ram Subhag Singh conducted the proceedings of the oath ceremony & read out the warrant of appointment issued by President Ram Nath Kovind.

India, France Discuss Ways to Increase Mobility of Students, Professionals

India and France discussed ways to jointly increase the mobility of students, professionals and skilled workers while strengthening their efforts to combat irregular migration between the two countries.
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, the two countries are fully committed to pursuing the implementation of the Partnership Agreement on Migration and Mobility, which entered into force on October 1, 2021.

Pashupati Kumar Paras, Union Minister of Food Processing Industries in the presence of Prahlad Singh Patel, MoS (FPI) Smt. Anita Praveen, Secretary, MoFPI, and Senior Officials from the Ministry and NAFED launched Three One District One Product (ODOP) brands under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme in New Delhi.
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries has signed an agreement with NAFED for developing 10 brands of selected 20 ODOPs under the branding and marketing component of the PMFME scheme.

Odisha to Host India's First Tribal Health Observatory

Odisha is set to come up with India's only observatory, which will house data on the state's indigenous population's health. The ST and SC Development Department and the RMRC, a regional institution of the Indian Council of Medical Research, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this regard.
The Tribal Health Observatory (TriHOb) is the first in the nation, and is aimed to be an effective, evidence-based, and policy-oriented centre.
It will monitor illness burden, health-seeking behaviour, and the healthcare delivery system in relation to tribal health in the state in a systematic and continuing manner.
'Mo School' Abhiyan chairperson Sushmita Bagchi also inaugurated a tribal family health survey among indigenous groups during the event in which the MoU was signed.
The survey will serve as a springboard for future longitudinal cohort studies and policy research.
The 'Mo School' (My School) programme aims to connect, collaborate, and contribute to the renovation of government and government-aided schools in Odisha.

Alkesh Kumar Sharma, an Indian Administrative Services officer of 1990 batch from Kerala cadre, assumed charge as Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
He earlier served as Additional Secretary and Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat. In addition to other responsibilities given to him, Sharma was looking after the cabinet proposals of infrastructure, economic, finance, industry, agriculture and allied Ministries of the government.
He has also worked as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Limited (NICDC) (earlier DMICDC) from October 2015 to September 2019. He was also CEO of National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT).

Over 51, 000 Frontline Railway Staff Trained under Mission Rail Karmayogi

As per the Union Government, more than 51,000 frontline Railway Staff were trained under Mission Rail Karmayogi. These employees were trained by Master Trainers who themselves were trained at the Indian Railways Institute of Transport Management, a Centralised Training Institute under the Ministry of Railways.
Mission Karmayogi was launched in September, 2020, by the Government, as one of the most significant capacity building initiatives anywhere in the world. The project seeks to train about one lakh frontline Railway Staff in a six-month period. The objective of this Mission is to transform the outlook of these Frontline staff by providing citizen-centric training.

President of India Graces the 61st Annual Conference of Bodo Sahitya Sabha

The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind graced the 61st annual conference of Bodo Sahitya Sabha at Tamulpur, Assam. The President noted that the month of May is very important for the Bodo people as they remember Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma on May 1 which is his death anniversary. He said that Bodofa had spread the message of "live and let live". His message of maintaining harmony with all communities while conscious of Bodo self-pride will be forever relevant.
So far 17 writers have been awarded Sahitya Akademi Awards for their works in Bodo language. And out of that 10 have been awarded for poetry work.

Delimitation Commission Finalises The Delimitation Order

The Delimitation Commission headed by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, (a retired Judge of the Supreme Court of India), and Sushil Chandra, (Chief Election Commissioner) and Sh. K. K. Sharma, (State Election Commissioner, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir), as Ex-Officio members of the Delimitation Commission met to finalise the Delimitation Order for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. The Gazette notification for the same was also published.
Out of the 90 Assembly Constituencies in the region, 43 will be part of Jammu region and 47 for Kashmir region keeping in view the provisions of Section 9(1)(a) of the Delimitation Act, 2002 and Section 60(2)(b) of Jammu & Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019.
After consultation with Associate Members, representatives of political parties, citizens, civil society groups, 9ACs have been reserved for STs, out of which,6 are in Jammu region and 3 ACs in the Valley.
Names of some ACs were also changed keeping in view the demand of local representatives.
