A US radio telescope has captured images of an enormous lava lake on the surface of Io, one of the moons orbiting the planet Jupiter.
"The new images clearly show an enormous lake of lava, fed from the subsoil and which exists permanently.
The mass of lava was spotted in the region known as Loki Patera, a volcanic pit measuring approximately 200 kilometers (124 miles) in diameter.

Pluto's Moons Tumbling in Absolute Chaos
NASA`s Hubble space telescope has provided the first glimpse of Pluto`s moons that wobble unpredictably, tumbling in absolute chaos.
Hubble has provided a new view of Pluto and its moons revealing a cosmic dance with a chaotic rhythm.
Comprehensive analysis of the data shows that two of Pluto`s moons, Nix and Hydra, wobble unpredictably.
The moons wobble because they are embedded in a gravitational field that shifts constantly.

Final Close-up of Saturn's Moon Hyperion
NASA's Cassini spacecraft has made its latest and final flyby of Hyperion, Saturn's oddball moon.
The probe returned images from its final close approach to Hyperion, upholding the moon's reputation as one of the most bizarre objects in the solar system.
Cassini passed Hyperion at a distance of about 21,000 miles (34,000 kilometers) at closest approach. Cassini's closest-ever Hyperion flyby took place in September 2005, at a distance of 314 miles (505 kilometers).
Cassini will make several more close flybys of Saturn's moons in 2015 before departing the planet's equatorial plane to begin a year-long setup of the mission's daring final act.

Hidden Structures near Earth's Surface
By observing galaxies billions of light-years away, a team of astronomers has detected tube-like structures mere hundreds of kilometres above the Earth's surface.
For over 60 years, scientists believed these structures existed but by imaging them for the first time, we have provided visual evidence that they are really there.
The observations revealed that the tubes are 500 to 700 km above the surface and are aligned with the Earth's magnetic field.
