Delhi Govt, UNICEF Join Hands to Provide Job Opportunities to Students

  • The Kejriwal government announced a new pilot project with the UNICEF to enable access to employment opportunities for students of the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU).
  • The government said that the DSEU and UNICEF have introduced 'Career Awareness Sessions' for students.
  • Skill Varsity of Delhi joined hands with YuWaah (Generation Unlimited India) at UNICEF to enable access to employment opportunities, assist students in becoming job ready as well as listen to and amplify the voices of young people.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi Inaugurates 6th National Conclave on Mines and Minerals

  • Union Minister for Mines Pralhad Joshi inaugurating the 6th National Conclave on Mines and Minerals in New Delhi. Joshi said that Sustainable Mining is the need of the hour. Mr. Joshi also stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mineral Mining Sector has reached its zenith of growth and under his vision mineral production is scaling new heights.
  • Minister of State for Mines Raosaheb Patil Danve said that in the last eight years, India has witnessed development and it is becoming self-reliant.
  • The conclave was organised as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Apurva Chandra Unveils New Logo of Prasar Bharati

  • Information and Broadcasting Secretary Apurva Chandra unveiled new logo of country's Public Service Broadcaster, Prasar Bharati.
  • In the new logo, map of India signify the service of trust, security and perfection to the nation. Its dark moderate blue colour represents both sky and sea which is associated with open space, freedom, intuition, imagination, inspiration and sensitivity. Blue also represents meanings of depth, trust, loyalty, sincerity, wisdom, confidence, stability, faith and intelligence.
  • The blue colour also pays tribute to the Indian ethos and traditions associated with religious figures, mythological characters found in the Indian miniature paintings.
  • On the occasion of unveiling of a new logo, Prasar Bharti's Member D. P. S. Negi opined that the new logo of Prasar Bharati is defined as a blend of both AIR and Doordarshan.

Congress Appoints Senior Observers for Himachal and Gujarat Polls

  • The Congress appointed Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot as senior observers for the upcoming assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat respectively.
  • While TS Singh Deo and Milind Deora were appointed observers for Gujarat polls, Sachin Pilot and Partap Singh Bajwa would be observers for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly election.
  • Assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh are likely to be held later this year.

PM Modi Inaugurates Deoghar Airport

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Deoghar in Jharkhand and launched or inaugurated development projects worth Rs. 16,835 crore, including the Rs. 400–crore Deoghar Airport.
  • Modi also dedicated to the nation the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Deoghar, which has come up at a cost of Rs. 1100 crore.
  • The Deoghar Airport will provide direct connectivity to Baidyanath Dham, a religious destination thronged by lakhs of pilgrims from across the country every year.

PM Unveils National Emblem Cast on New Parliament Building

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the National Emblem cast on the roof of the new Parliament building and interacted with the labourers.
  • The National Emblem is made of bronze weighing 9500 kg and is 6.5 metre in height.
  • It has been cast at the top of the Central Foyer of the new Parliament building.
  • A supporting structure of steel weighing around 6500 kg has been constructed to support the Emblem.
  • The concept sketch and process of casting of the National Emblem on the roof of the building has gone through eight different stages of preparation from clay modelling/computer graphic to bronze casting and polishing.

Rajendra Prasad Assumes the Charge of Managing Director of National High Speed Rail Corporation L...

  • Rajendra Prasad assumed the charge of the Managing Director, National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), after the Railway Ministry terminated the services of his predecessor Satish Agnihotri, who was the in charge of the government's prestigious Bullet Train project, over corruption charges.
  • Agnihotri was fired following a court order directing the CBI to probe charges of a "quid pro quo" deal allegedly struck by him with a private company during his nine-year tenure as the chairman and managing of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL).

Brajesh Kumar Appointed CMD of Goa Shipyard

  • The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) committee named Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, who joined Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL as a trainee manager), as CMD of the Miniratna PSU, breaking away from the current trend of appointing retired naval officers as chairman and managing director (CMD).When Upadhyay was selected for the position from a field of six others, he was managing director (business) at GSL.

Jagan Mohan Reddy Elected Lifetime President of YSR Congress

  • Chief Minister and national president of YSR Congress Party, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was unanimously elected as lifetime president of the YSR Congress Party.
  • The process was completed on the concluding day of the YSRC's two-day plenary, after the party constitution was amended to enable Jagan's election as president for lifetime.
  • Jagan established the YSRC in March 2011 after quitting the Congress. Ever since, he has been continuing as the party president.

R. K. Gupta Appointed Deputy Election Commissioner

  • Senior bureaucrat R. K. Gupta was appointed as the deputy election commissioner. He came in place of T. Sreekanth.
  • Gupta, a Central Secretariat Service (CSS) officer, will serve as deputy election commissioner (Joint secretary level) till 28 February 2023, the date of his superannuation.

  • Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Parshottam Rupala inaugurating First India Animal Health Summit 2022, he called for greater use of Ayurveda for ensuring better animal health. First India Animal Health Summit 2022 was held at NASC Complex, New Delhi understanding the significance of animal health towards the broader objective of the country's food and nutrition security, rural incomes and prosperity and overall economic development.
  • 'India Animal Health Summit 2022' was organised by Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture (ICFA) and the Agriculture Today Group. The two-day event hosted a plethora of panel discussions ranging from topics such as Animal Health policy initiatives to Business environment & investment opportunities in the Animal Health sector.

Amit Shah Virtually Unveils 'Statue of Peace' of Swamy Ramanujacharya in Srinagar

  • Union home minister Amit Shah virtually unveiled the 'Statue of Peace' of Swamy Ramanujacharya in Srinagar, located in a temple in the Sonwar region.
  • Shah, while unveiling the statue, said that this will be a message of peace in not only Kashmir, but the whole country. The Gujarat government, too, will install a Ramanujacharya statue next year.
  • Saint Ramanujacharya, also known as Ramanuja, is considered to be a great thinker, philosopher and social reformer, a south Indian Brahmin born in Tamil Nadu's Sriperumbudur.
