Nidhi Chhibber takes charge as NITI Aayog CEO

Nidhi Chhibber has assumed additional charge as Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog after the term of BVR Subrahmanyam ended on 24 February 2026. An IAS officer of the 1994 batch from the Chhattisgarh cadre, she previously served as Director General of the Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO) and as Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education. PM Modi Inaugurates India's First Namo Bharat RRTS on Delhi-Meerut Corridor

On 22 February 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India's first Namo Bharat Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) on the Delhi-Meerut corridor from Meerut. Vivek L. Bhimanwar sworn in as Chairman, Maharashtra PSC

Vivek L. Bhimanwar, a senior IAS officer, was sworn in as Chairman of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) on Wednesday, at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai. Bulgaria appoints Andrey Gyurov as interim prime minister ahead of April elections

Bulgarian President Iliana Yotova has appointed central bank deputy governor Andrey Gyurov as interim prime minister to steer the country toward national elections scheduled for 19 April 2026. The move follows prolonged political instability in a parliament that has failed to form a durable coalition. The caretaker government will be tasked with organising a free and fair vote in a fragmented political landscape. Gyurov, a seasoned economist, is to present his cabinet within seven days, subject to presidential approval. Once the cabinet is approved, the formal election date will be confirmed. Delhi Police launches Op Shashtra to curb online weapon culture

Delhi Police launched Operation Shashtra to curb the online glorification of weapons among youths. In the first phase, 61 FIRs have been registered and 67 people arrested, including 15 teenagers who were produced before the juvenile justice board. The police seized 69 firearms, 93 live rounds, and several knives and sharp-edged tools. The drive aims to counter the digital normalisation of weapon use through short-format videos and reels. City police chief Satish Golcha called for stronger vigil and prevention. The operation signals a broader push to protect youths from involvement in illicit activities online.
