  • The DRDO stated that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), which operates under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

India and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Cooperation in Chemicals and Petrochemicals Sector

  • A bilateral meeting held between Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India and Ministry of Industry and Minerals, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Indian side was led by Ms. Nivedita Shukla Verma, Secretary Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals. The Saudi delegation was led by H.E Eng. Khalil bin Ibrahim bin Salamah, Vice Minister of Industry and Minerals.
  • Saudi Arabia is India's fourth largest trade partner, and India is Saudi Arabia's second largest trade partner. Bilateral trade between the two countries reached USD 41.88 billion in 2024–25, with chemicals and petrochemicals contributing 10%, which is nearly USD 4.5 billion.

Netcore Cloud Launches 'Agentic Marketing 2025'

  • Netcore Cloud, a marketing technology leader, announced Agentic Marketing 2025, a major summit in partnership with Google Cloud and ETBrandEquity. This one-day event will bring together India's top marketing and technology leaders to explore a major shift in the industry: moving from basic automation to intelligent systems that work on their own.

India Secures First Global Order to Build LNG-powered Container Ships Worth $300 Million

  • France-based CMA CGM, the world's third-biggest container carrier, sees India as an "alternative" for building small, liquefied natural gas-powered box ships, chairman and chief executive Rodolphe Saade said, after signed a letter of intent with Cochin Shipyard for constructing six such ships for about $300 million. This is the first container ship order ever to be placed by a global mainline ship operator in India and an inflection point for the industry.

GalaxEye to Launch World's First Multi-Sensor EO Satellite in 2026

  • In a pioneering move that cements India's place in the global space race, Indian space-tech startup GalaxEye announced it will launch Mission Drishti, the world's first multi-sensor Earth Observation (EO) satellite, in the first quarter of 2026. This launch marks the start of an ambitious plan to establish a constellation of high-resolution satellites that will transform Earth monitoring, surveillance, and analytics across sectors.
  • Mission Drishti is not only India's largest privately developed satellite at 160 kg, but also features the country's highest-resolution imaging sensor.
  • What makes this mission globally unique is the integration of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and high-resolution optical payloads on a single platform — a first in satellite technology.
  • This multi-sensor system enables the satellite to capture high-precision Earth images day or night, in any weather condition, overcoming limitations of traditional satellite observation systems.
  • Mission Drishti provides imagery with a 1.5-meter resolution, enabling detailed geospatial data analysis.

Adani Enterprises Partners With Google for India's Largest Data Centre Campus in Visakhapatnam

  • AdaniConnex, a joint venture of Adani Enterprises, partnered with Google to establish India's largest data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This significant investment will create a major AI hub, featuring gigawatt-scale data centre operations supported by subsea cables and clean energy. The project aims to bolster India's digital infrastructure and create substantial employment opportunities.

India's Mann Sharma Begins Quest for World's First-ever Burpee Marathon

  • Indian athlete and adventurer Mann Sharma made history as he officially kicked off Mann vs Burpees, the world's first-ever Burpee Marathon at the Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Stadium in New Delhi. This World Book of Records attempt will see Mann cover the full marathon distance of 42.195 kilometres entirely through burpee broad jumps over the next ten days (concludes on October 15). The event was flagged off by the Chief Guest, Union Minister for Sports Mansukh Mandaviya.
  • Organised by Question Associates in collaboration with Fit India and officially recognised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the event is expected to redefine human endurance and resilience. Beyond the physical feat, Mann vs Burpees is a mission to raise funds and awareness for The One Friend NGO, which supports education and empowerment for underprivileged children across India.

11th Asian Aquatics Championships in Ahmedabad Concluded

Govt Extends 16th Finance Commission Tenure Till Nov 30

  • The Government of India extended the tenure of the 16th Finance Commission by one month, shifting the deadline for its report submission from October 31 to November 30, 2025. The Commission, chaired by Arvind Panagariya, is tasked with recommending the distribution of tax revenues between the Centre and states for the 2026–2031 period, as well as reviewing fiscal arrangements for disaster management financing.

The Former President of India, Ram Nath Kovind to be the Chief Guest on the 32nd Foundation Day of the National Human Rights Commission, India

  • The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) celebrated its 32nd foundation day with a ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi in October 2025, where former President Ram Nath Kovind attended as the chief guest and delivered the inaugural address. Established on October 12, 1993, the NHRC has played a pivotal role in promoting human rights, driving policy reforms, and strengthening transparent governance. Over the past 32 years, the Commission has handled more than 23.79 lakh cases, including 2,981 taken up suo motu, and recommended monetary relief exceeding Rs. 263 crore in nearly 8,924 cases of human rights violations.
  • In the past year alone, from October 2024 to September 2025, the Commission registered 73,849 complaints and initiated 108 suo motu cases, underscoring its continued vigilance in protecting citizens' rights.

India Elected Unopposed to UN Human Rights Council for 2026-28 Term

  • India elected unopposed to the Human Rights Council for the seventh time for a three-year term (2026-28) starting next year. After India's election by the General Assembly was announced in October 2025, Permanent Representative P Harish said that this election reflects India's unwavering commitment to human rights and fundamental freedoms. In a social media post, Harish said that India looks forward to serving this objective during his tenure. He also thanked all the delegations for their overwhelming support.
  • The Human Rights Council is the main UN body with 47 members. It promotes and protects human rights around the world, reviews the situation in member countries, and provides a forum to discuss issues. The Council was formed by the General Assembly in 2006, when India was elected to its first term.

Kaziranga Director Sonali Ghosh Wins Global Sustainability Award

  • Sonali Ghosh, field director at Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, became the first Indian to win the prestigious World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA)–Kenton Miller Award for innovation in national parks and protected area sustainability. The honour was conferred at the IUCN World Conservation Congress held in Abu Dhabi.
  • The award is named after Dr Kenton R Miller, former director general of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Besides Ghosh, 14 conservation leaders were also recognised.

Maldives First to Achieve Elimination of Mother-to-child Transmission of HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B

  • In 2025, the World Health Organisation validated the Maldives for eliminating mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B, while maintaining its earlier validation for HIV and syphilis.
  • This makes the Maldives the first country in the world to achieve 'triple elimination'.
  • "The Maldives has shown that with strong political will and sustained investment in maternal and child health, elimination of mother-to-child transmission of these deadly diseases, and the suffering they bring, is possible," said WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

India signs MoU with Mongolia to Boost People-to-people Ties, Announces Free E-visas

  • India and Mongolia, in October 2025, took a significant step forward in strengthening their cultural and developmental partnership, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcing free e-visas for Mongolian citizens and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cultural and people-to-people ties.
  • "The MoU signed between the Autonomous Hill Development Council and Mongolia's Arkhangai Province will give a fresh boost to our cultural ties... Even though we do not share a border, India has always considered Mongolia a close neighbour. We will continue to strengthen people-to-people ties. We have decided to provide free e-visas to Mongolian citizens. And we will sponsor the annual visit of young cultural ambassadors from Mongolia to India," PM Modi said.
