Ramesh Singh Arora (48), a legislator from Narowal, became the first from the minority Sikh community to take oath as a minister in the Punjab province of Pakistan on Wednesday.
A three-time Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) from Narowal, Arora took oath as a minister in the Cabinet of recently sworn-in Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Chief Minister Maryam Nawaf Sharif, daughter of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The ceremony was held at the Governor's House in Lahore.

India, as a party to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), has recently implemented stringent measures to regulate the possession and trade of exotic pets. The Living Animal Species (Reporting and Registration) Rules, 2024, issued by the Union environment ministry on February 28, aim to enforce the provisions of the Convention and ensure the protection of endangered wildlife.
IOC to Make Fuel for Formula 1 - First by an Indian Firm
India's largest oil company, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOC) will start manufacturing fuel used in adrenaline-pumping Formula One or F1, motor racing as it looks to expand its basket of niche fuels.
F1 fuel is essentially high-octane petrol and the standards are heavily regulated by global motor sport governing body Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) on various counts, including permissible additives and blending agents. IOC will supply fuel for all the motorcyclists from 15 countries that will participate in the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship.
CRISIL Raises India's GDP Growth Forecast to 6.8% from 6.4% for FY25
Rating agency CRISIL on Wednesday raised its economic growth forecast for India in the next financial year (FY25) to 6.8 per cent from 6.4 per cent estimated earlier, citing higher growth momentum.
In its India Outlook report, it, however, said growth will moderate in FY25 from 7.6 per cent in the current financial year (FY24) as higher interest rates and lower fiscal impulse will temper demand and the net tax impact will normalise.

FRINJEX-23, the first-ever joint military exercise between Indian Army and French Army held in 2024. It was between the 7th and 8th of March 2023 at Pangode Military Station in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Both contingents consist of a Company Group. India was represented by Indian Army troops based in Thiruvananthapuram and France was represented by the French 6th Light Armoured Brigade.
The exercise's objective is to enhance inter-operability, coordination, and cooperation between both forces at the tactical level. It will involve establishing and operationalising a joint command post to secure an area for joint humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, setting up an Internally Displaced Population (IDP) camp, and moving disaster relief material. The exercise will strengthen India's defence cooperation with France, which is a crucial component of the overall Indo-France strategic partnership.

The three forces of India – Army, Navy, and Air Force – are going to conduct the biggest exercise called 'Bharat-Shakti' at Asia's largest field firing range located in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. PM Modi's Likely Visit Prime Minister Narendra Modi may visit Pokhran on March 12, 2024, to witness this show of strength by the Indian Armed Forces.
Bharat Shakti is a significant tri-Service exercise showcasing the firepower of the Army, Air Force, and Navy. The three Indian Services will showcase the capability of indigenously manufactured weapons and platforms during the exercise.
Only indigenous weapon systems developed in India will be included in this exercise.

Toriyama died March 1 of a blood clot in his brain, his production company Bird Studio said in a statement on Friday. A funeral service had been held with only his family and a few relatives, it said.

Ministry of Jal Shakti (MoJS) Signs an MoA with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore
The Ministry of Jal Shakti (MoJS) has signed a 10-year Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore to establish the International Centre of Excellence for Dams (ICED). With a focus on dam safety, ICED will provide technical support, conduct research, and offer academic courses.
The Ministry will fund the center with a grant of 118.05 crore rupees for infrastructure construction and modernization. The MoA duration is ten years or until the completion of the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP) Phase-II and III Scheme, whichever is earlier.
