The inauguration also witnessed the presence of Secretary, Ministry of Steel Nagendra Nath Sinha, Managing Director (Jindal Stainless Limited), Abhyuday Jindal, Founder, Hygenco Amit Bansal, and other officials of the Ministry of Steel.

India's first listed AI-powered fintech company, Infibeam Avenues, received the final authorisation from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate as a payment aggregator for its payment gateway brand, CCAvenue.
In March 2020, the RBI introduced the payment aggregator framework, which necessitates payment gateways to secure an aggregator licence for acquiring merchants and delivering digital payment acceptance solutions.

In a significant stride towards cyber-security measures and enhancing citizen empowerment, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) unveiled the Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) alongside the 'Chakshu' facility on the Sanchar Saathi portal. This initiative aims to foster collaboration among stakeholders to combat the misuse of telecom resources in cyber-crime and financial frauds.
'Chakshu' is a citizen-centric facility introduced on the Sanchar Saathi portal by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). It aims to empower individuals to report suspected fraud communications received via various channels, including calls, SMS, or WhatsApp.
Citizens can utilise 'Chakshu' to report various types of fraudulent activities, such as KYC-related frauds, impersonation as government officials or relatives for financial gain, sextortion, and other forms of communication aimed at defrauding individuals.
Indian Shuttler B. Sai Praneeth Retires from International Badminton
World Championships bronze medallist B. Sai Praneeth announced his retirement from international badminton, bringing down curtains on a successful career during which he won the Singapore Open and also represented India at the Tokyo Olympics. Sai from Hyderabad decided to hang his boost after battling nagging injuries since the Tokyo Games.
Praneeth will begin a new innings now as he is set to join as a head coach of Triangle Badminton Academy in USA.

Shabnim Ismail Records Fastest Ball in Women's Cricket
Mumbai Indians pacer Shabnim Ismail recorded the fastest ball in recorded women's cricket, having breached the 130 kph barrier during the Women's Premier League (WPL 2024) match against Delhi Capitals in Delhi. Ismail delivered a 132.1 kph delivery as per the speed-gun on broadcast.
The South Africa pacer also holds the record for the fastest deliveries bowled in international women's cricket, having touched 128 kph against West Indies in 2016.
Ismail retired from international cricket in May 2023 shortly after the T20 World Cup at home, marking an end to a career spanning 16 yeards. She appeared for the Proteas in 241 internationals, picking up 317 wickets across formats. She remains as the second-highest wicket-take in women's ODIs (191) while leading the charts for South Africa in T20Is (123).
UP the First State in Country to Issue Five crore Ayushman Cards under Ayushman Bharat PMJAY
Uttar Pradesh emerged as the first State in the country to issue five crore Ayushman cards under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. According to a press release issued by the Uttar Pradesh government, the State has issued 50,017,920 Ayushman cards and benefited 74,382,304 individuals. A total of 3,716 hospitals in the state are empanelled under this scheme. Under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, a total of 3,481,252 health claims were filed, with 3,275,737 claims settled, representing a settlement rate of 92.48 per cent in the State.
Govt. Launches Gateway to Facilitate Post-harvest Financing for Farmers
The government launched an online digital platform named 'e-Upaja Kisaan Nidhi' to empower farmers with access to pledge finance against harvested commodities. This initiative enables farmers to store their agricultural produce with the Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA) and secure post-harvest loans from banks.
Food Minister Piyush Goyal stated that the user-friendly digital gateway, developed collaboratively by the Department of Food and Public Distribution, the Department of Financial Services, and NABARD, simplifies the process for farmers to store their produce at any WDRA-registered warehouse for six months, with an interest rate of seven per cent per annum.
INAS 334 Squadron Welcomes MH 60R 'Seahawks' into the Indian Navy
The Indian Navy achieved a significant milestone, with the commissioning of the MH 60R Seahawk helicopter at INS Garuda, Kochi. This induction marked a crucial juncture in India's defence modernisation efforts, further bolstering its maritime capabilities. The Seahawks squadron is designated as INAS 334, symbolising a new era in naval aviation for the country. These helicopters are part of a 24-aircraft Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract inked with the US government in February 2020.
Designed as a multi-role helicopter, it is equipped for various operations including anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASuW), search and rescue (SAR), medical evacuation (MEDEVAC), and vertical replenishment (VERTREP).
Rigorously tested under Indian Reference Atmosphere (IRA) conditions, these helicopters are fully integrated into the Fleet.
Their advanced weapons, sensors, and avionics suite cater to the diverse maritime security needs of the Indian Navy, enhancing capabilities against both conventional and asymmetric threats.
CM Yogi Rolls Out 'MYUVA Scheme' For Young Entrepreneurs in UP
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scheme to support young entrepreneurs called 'Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan (MYUVA)'. This program offers interest-free loans to help young people kick-start their business ventures with projects valued up to Rs. 5 lakh.
The government aims to prepare one lakh young entrepreneurs every year through this scheme.
MYUVA targets educated and skilled youth across the state, providing them with opportunities for self-employment.
Beneficiaries include individuals who have undergone training in various government-supported schemes and those with educational qualifications.
Successful repayment of the initial loan qualifies participants for second-stage financing, enabling them to expand their businesses further.
Union Minister Inaugurates Three CIPET Centres across India
Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers and Health and Family Welfare, Mansukh Mandaviya, virtually inaugurated three centres of the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) from New Delhi. These centres, located in Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh, are significant additions to CIPET's network.
Mandaviya noted that CIPET has been instrumental in providing employment opportunities to the youth, with almost 100% placement rates in the petrochemical sector for its trained graduates.
He highlighted the expansion of CIPET from offering certificate and diploma courses to now providing undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD level programs.
The government's efforts to increase the number of CIPET centres from 23 to 47 over the last decade underscore its commitment to supporting the petrochemical industry's growth.
REC Limited Joins Hands with UNISED to Support Education of Children in Siddharthnagar, Uttar Pradesh
REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power and a leading Non-Banking Finance Company, partnered with the Unit of Science and Educational Development (UNISED) to support the education of around 75,500 children of Siddharthnagar district, Uttar Pradesh. REC entered into this partnership through its Corporate Social Responsibility arm REC Foundation. REC committed a financial assistance of Rs. 9.91 crores towards this noble cause.
The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between REC Foundation and UNISED was signed during a ceremony held in New Delhi. The agreement was finalised by Head of CSR at REC Foundation, Mr. Bhupesh Chandolia and Assistant Programme Director at UNISED, Ms. Rashmi Kumari, thus helping solidify UNISED's commitment to improving educational opportunities for underprivileged children.
Eight Universities Granted Graded Autonomy by University Grants Commission
The University Grants Commission (UGC) released a notice regarding the list of universities that were granted autonomy under the University Grants Commission (Categorisation of Universities (only) for Grant of Graded Autonomy) Regulations, 2018. The notice was issued on the official website of the UGC. As per the notice, four universities received Category 1 autonomy and 4 universities received Category 2 autonomy.
The universities that were granted autonomy by UGC are Central University of Rajasthan - Category – 1, Central Sanskrit University - Category – 1, University of Delhi - Category – 1, Central University of South Bihar - Category – 1, University of Hyderabad - Category – 2, Maulana Azad National Urdu University - Category – 2, Central University of Punjab - Category – 2 and Central University of Himachal Pradesh- Category – 2.
These universities were given autonomy based on several factors, such as academic performance, research output, infrastructure, etc.
PM Modi Inaugurate India's 1st Underwater Metro in Kolkata
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India's first-ever underwater metro section in Kolkata, a landmark project showcasing the nation's stride towards infrastructure development.
The underwater service is part of the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade section of Kolkata Metro's East-West corridor, which covers a distance of 16.6 km under the Hooghly River.
The metro service will connect Howrah and Salt Lake -- the West Bengal state capital's twin cities. Three out of six stations will be underground.
The inauguration of the landmark project comes less than a year after Kolkata Metro, in April 2023, made history by running a train through the underwater tunnel as part of trials, which was a first in India.
Hours after resigning as a judge at the Calcutta High Court, Abhijit Gangopadhyay announced that he will be joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is fighting against the corruption of the TMC in Bengal.
Gangopadhyay sent his resignation letter to President Droupadi Murmu. A copy of the same was also sent to CJI D. Y. Chandrachud and the Chief Justice of the Calcutta HC T. S. Sivagnanam.
Abhijit Gangopadhyay was scheduled to retire in July. The HC judge has faced criticism from the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) party for some of his judgements in the past. Gangopadhay joined the HC as an additional judge in 2018. He became a permanent judge two years later in July 2020.
