The United States has designated 10 nations Burma, the People`s Republic of China, Eritrea, Iran, the DPRK, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan as Countries of Particular Concern for having engaged in or tolerated systematic, ongoing, and egregious violations of religious freedom.
Algeria, Comoros, Cuba, and Nicaragua were placed on a Special Watch List for governments that have engaged in or tolerated "severe violations of religious freedom.
The United States remains committed to working with governments, civil society organizations, and members of religious communities to advance religious freedom around the world and address the plight of individuals and communities facing abuse, harassment, and discrimination on account of what they believe, or what they do not believe.
Taiwan Opens Office in Lithuania
Taiwan opened a de facto embassy in Lithuania in a diplomatic breakthrough for the Chinese-claimed island, brushing aside Beijing's strong opposition to the move which again expressed its anger and warned of consequences.
Other Taiwan offices in Europe and the United States use the name of the city Taipei, avoiding a reference to the island itself, which China claims as its own territory.
China has stepped up efforts to get other countries to limit their interactions with Taiwan, or cut them off altogether. Only 15 countries have formal diplomatic ties with Taiwan.
NPCI Ties up with Leading Payments Provider PPRO to Take UPI Global
NPCI International Payments Ltd (NIPL), the international arm of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has collaborated with fintech firm PPRO, a global provider of local payments infrastructure, to expand growth of India's digital payments ecosystem.
The agreement aims at expanding RuPay card and UPI acceptance across PPRO's global clients such as payment service providers (PSPs) and global merchant acquirers.
RuPay is a global card payment network from India with over 635 million cards issued to date.
This partnership will drive NIPL's continued expansion into foreign markets and will add India to PPRO's Local Payment Method (LPM) coverage map.

The Alliance of Digital India Foundation (ADIF) entered into a partnership with the Coalition for App Fairness to jointly work towards a free and fair app marketplace for all developers.
Coalition for App Fairness (CAF) is an independent global non-profit organisation formed to protect consumer choice, foster competition, and create a level playing field for all app and game developers worldwide. Some its members include Spotify and Blockchain.com
The partnership comes on the heels of the Global Conference on Mobile App Ecosystem Fairness held in South Korea where the discussion centered around the need for regulating the application ecosystem.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated a revamped war memorial in eastern Ladakh's Rezang La, the site of an epic battle where Indian troops bravely fought the Chinese soldiers in 1962.
Singh described the monument as an example of the determination and indomitable courage displayed by the Indian Army that he said is not "only immortal in the pages of history, but also beats in our hearts".
The Battle of Rezang La is considered one of the ten greatest and most challenging military conflicts in the world.

BDL Inks Export Contract with Airbus Defense & Space for CMDS
Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) signed an export contract with Airbus Defense & Space, Spain for supply of Counter Measures Dispensing System (CMDS). Under the contract, BDL will supply its in-house developed CMDS to Airbus.
The contract, which is valued at US$ 21 million approximately, was signed by BDL director (technical) N.P. Diwakar, and senior vice-president Airbus Defense and Space, S.A.U., Arnal Didier Dominique.
BDL is expanding its footprints in the global market by offering its products to friendly foreign nations in tune with the policies of the government aimed towards 'ease of doing business' with foreign countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally handed over Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) designed Advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) system 'Shakti' for naval ships to the Indian Navy at a ceremony in Jhansi.
The ceremony was held as part of 'Rashtra Raksha Samarpan Parv' at Jhansi.
Advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) System 'Shakti' has been designed and developed by Defence Electronics Research Laboratory (DLRL) Hyderabad a laboratory of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for Capital Warships of the Indian Navy for the interception, detection, classification, identification and jamming of conventional and modern Radars.
Considered an authority on Indian football, veteran commentator and former Delhi University professor Novy Kapadia passed away. He was 67.
Kapadia covered nine FIFA World Cups.
Kapadia was involved in commentary for decades and it was not just restricted to football. He has been a part of the Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and other multi-sport events.
Kapadia, who founded the Ashoka Club and played active football in the local league, was held in high esteem by the players, officials, scribes and everyone else associated with Indian football and beyond.

National Integration Day is a day for promoting peace, unity, and integration between all of the different segments of society living in India. Indira Gandhi's birthday was chosen as a day to celebrate as she is seen as somebody who embodies the good intentions of the holiday.
Gandhi became India's first female Prime Minister in 1966 and stayed in the role for 11 years. She played a major role in strengthening democratic structure and tradition in the country. She won the war with Pakistan in 1971 and signed a subsequent peace treaty.
After losing her battle for reelection in 1977 she was ousted from her role as Prime Minister, only to be voted back in again in 1980. Gandhi was assassinated in 1984 by two of her own bodyguards at her home in New Delhi.

West Bengal Government Launches Ration at Doorstep Scheme
The Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal launched the 'Duare Ration' (ration at doorstep) scheme which the administration said will benefit around 10 crore of people of the state.
The 'Duare Ration' scheme is one of the many pet projects of CM Banerjee and was announced ahead of the West Bengal assembly elections earlier this year. A section of dealers had moved the Calcutta High Court against the scheme but their plea was junked.
