US judge rejects Trump limits on 'Dreamer' immigration programme
A judge has rejected the White House's limitations on a programme protecting 700,000 so-called "Dreamers," undocumented migrants brought to the United States as children.
The federal judge in New York ruled that President Donald Trump's acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf was not lawfully serving in his role when he issued the new rules for the DACA programme in July.
The ruling is another victory for proponents of the Barack Obama-era programme after the US Supreme Court in June rejected Trump's cancellation of it.
RCEP: Asia-Pacific Countries Form World's Largest Trading Bloc
Fifteen countries have formed the world's largest trading bloc, covering nearly a third of the global economy.
The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is made up of 10 Southeast Asian countries, as well as South Korea, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
The pact is seen as an extension of China's influence in the region.
The deal excludes the US, which withdrew from a rival Asia-Pacific trade pact in 2017.
Aung San Suu Kyi, NLD Win Second Landslide Election in Myanmar
Myanmar's Aung San Suu Kyi and her ruling National League for Democracy have clinched a second consecutive landslide win in national elections, though analysts still expect slow going for democratic reforms and peace talks in the war-torn country.
The Union Election Commission declared the NLD the winner of the Nov. 8 poll, with the party gaining 396 of the 498 contested seats in the bicameral parliament. That not only puts it well over the 322 it needs to govern alone but gives it nine more seats than it won in 2015, when it swept to power in Myanmar's first democratic elections after decades of military rule.
Named after Sri Lankan taxonomist Rohan Pethiyagoda, the frogs of the new genus Rohanixalus are characterised by a rather small and slender body (size about 2 to 3 cm long).
It has a pair of contrastingly coloured lateral lines on either side of the body, minute brown speckles scattered throughout the upper body surfaces, and light green coloured eggs laid in arboreal bubble-nests.
Based on DNA studies, the new genus is also revealed to be a distinct evolutionary lineage from all previously known tree frog genera.
It is the 20th recognised genus of the family Rhacophoridae that comprises 422 known Old World tree frog species found in Asia and Africa.
Bigfin Squid Filmed in Australian Waters for the First Time
A team of researchers led by the CSIRO has spotted the elusive bigfin squid in Australian waters for the first time.
Two voyages to the Great Australian Bight, one in 2015 and another in 2017, recorded the cephalopod in waters kilometres below the ocean's surface.
Bigfin squid – also known as magnapinna – can measure up to seven metres in length.

The report on India's Clean Energy Investment Trends is prepared by the CEEW Centre for Energy Finance (CEEW-CEF) and the International Energy Agency (IEA).
Total 15.3 GW solar PV (including solar-wind hybrid) was sanctioned in competitive tenders in the first half of 2020, comparable to the capacity sanctioned over the full year 2019, a statement by CEEW said.
Reserve Bank to Evaluate Impact of 'RBI Kehta Hai' Campaign
The Reserve Bank will evaluate the impact of multi-media public awareness campaign 'RBI Kehta Hai', which was launched in 14 languages to educate the public about safe banking and financial practices. 'RBI Kehta Hai' was the first even 360 degree campaign initiated by the central bank using all mass media, including media such as television, radio, newspapers, hoardings, web banners, gifs, social media and SMS.
In order to evaluate the impact of the public awareness campaign, the RBI has invited Expression of Interest (EoI) from eligible companies and other entities which have successfully completed at least five similar projects.
The RBI had launched the multi-media campaign with a view to create awareness among common man about good practices, regulations and initiatives in banking and financial sector.

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Joins Hand with Gupkar Alliance
The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) formally joined the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), an amalgam of several parties in the union territory seeking restoration of the erstwhile state's special status.
Two Congress leaders participated in a meeting of the alliance at PDP president Mehbooba Mufti's 'Fairview' residence at Gupkar. The meeting was called to discuss the District Development Council (DDC) elections and to finalise the list of candidates to contest in the rest of the eight-phased polls.
Asked whether there were any differences between the alliance partners, Monga said that there is no disagreement and a healthy discussion took place.
NC provincial president, Kashmir, Nasir Aslam Wani, said that the Congress has assured it will be part of the alliance and part of the seat-sharing arrangement for the DDC elections.

Calcutta HC Stays Probe Against Kailash Vijayvargiya, other BJP Leaders for 'Unlawful Assembly'
The Calcutta High Court has stayed a police investigation in an FIR filed by Kolkata Police against Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Kailash Vijayvargiya, Mukul Roy and other party leaders.
The FIR lodged at Hasting Police station named 24 people, including party MPs Arjun Singh and Locket Chatterjee, and booked them for "unlawful assembly having their common object to approach Nabanna i.e. high security zone". The FIR was filed during West Bengal BJP's march to State Secretariat (Nabanna) on October 8, 2020.
Labour Ministry Seeks Feedback on Draft Rules Under Code on Social Security
The Ministry of Labour and Employment has sought feedback from stakeholders on draft rules under the Code on Social Security, 2020.
The feedback is required to be provided within 45 days from November 13, 2020.
The draft rules provide for operationalization of provisions in the Code on Social Security, 2020 relating to Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), gratuity, maternity benefit, social security and cess in respect of building and other construction workers, social security for unorganised workers, gig workers and platform workers.
Israeli Military Strikes Hamas Targets in Gaza after Rockets
The Israeli military said it struck Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip after militants fired two rockets from the Palestinian territory.
In a statement, the military said fighter jets, attack helicopters, and tanks hit Hamas underground infrastructure and military posts. It said two rockets were launched into Israel, with one reaching the southern Israeli city of Ashdod and the other stretching into central Israel.
There were no immediate reports of injuries on either side. The military said the rockets landed in open areas.
There was no immediate comment from Hamas officials.
Soumitra Chatterjee: India Acting Legend Dies, Aged 85
Legendary Indian actor Soumitra Chatterjee, famed for his work with Oscar-winning director Satyajit Ray, has died from Covid complications.
He was mourned by fans and critics who avidly followed his six-decade-long career in Bengali language films.
Chatterjee, who starred in more than 300 movies, was also an accomplished playwright, theatre actor and poet.

Ministry of Finance Approved Creation of National Database of Unorganised Sector
The Finance Ministry has given its approval for the creation of national database for unorganised sector. It will be the first-ever national database for migrant workers. The aim of creating national database is to give a proper platform to migrant labourers. It will also make it easy for the government to implement programmes for the unorganised sector.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment has said that the National Database of Unorganised Workers will maintain the database of the workers using their 12-digit Aadhaar number.
The database will enroll all unorganized workers including migrant labourers.
Jharkhand Assembly Passes Resolution on Sarna Code
The Jharkhand assembly has unanimously passed a resolution seeking the inclusion of Sarna as a separate religion in census, 2021. Chief minister Hemant Soren said the resolution, passed during a special one-day assembly session, will now be sent to the centre for approval.
The opposition parties gave a proposal demanding a discussion on the resolution, which speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato accepted. BJP legislators proposed an amendment to the resolution seeking removal of the oblique from 'tribal/Sarna' word in it.
Soren said his government is sensitive to people's sentiments and accepted the amendment, after which all the parties supported the resolution.
Arunachal Records Best Sex Ratio, Manipur the Worst
Arunachal Pradesh recorded the best sex ratio in the country while Manipur recorded the worst sex ratio, according to the 2018 report on "vital statistics of India based on the Civil Registration System".
Arunachal Pradesh recorded 1,084 females born per thousand males, followed by Nagaland (965) Mizoram (964), Kerala (963) and Karnataka (957). The worst was reported in Manipur (757), Lakshadweep (839) and Daman & Diu (877), Punjab (896) and Gujarat (896).
Delhi recorded a sex ratio of 929, Haryana 914 and Jammu and Kashmir 952.
The ratio was determined on the basis of data provided by 30 States and Union Territories as the "requisite information from six States namely Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal is not available," said the report published by the Registrar General of India.
