The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is required for an advocate to practice law. The exam is conducted by the Bar Council of India, which also awards the Certificate of Practice once a candidate qualifies in AIBE. The candidate must be a citizen of India, should have qualified LL.B degree programme (either 3 years or 5 years) awarded by any Indian institute and should be enrolled with any State Bar Council. The syllabi prescribed by the Bar Council of India cover questions from 19 areas of law. This is an open book exam with multiple choice questions.
